I started watching someone streaming their playthrough of Wasteland 3 and decided it looked like something I'd like to play, so I bought Wasteland 2 Director's Cut partly to start earlier in the story and partly because it was half the price of Wasteland 3.
I finished Wasteland 2 Director's Cut, enjoyed it a lot and then went on to Wasteland 3.
Which is where I hit some very irritating niggles in UI.
1) Zoom is far shorter than in W2. I can't zoom out enough to see more than my party (if they're close together) and a very small amount of land around them. That appears to be maximum zoom in W3. It's much less than it is in W2. It's not enough. Also, the game repeatedly forces me back to being zoomed right into their faces.
2) The world map doesn't seem to have any zoom at all. Nor any panning. Can't scroll the map. Can't zoom out. You're stuck with being zoomed close in to your vehicle. I'm finding that really annoying.
3) It doesn't seem to be possible to select a point on a map for your party to move to. In W2, you could open the map, doubleclick anywhere on the map to exit the map to the gameworld at that point on the map, then rightclick to have your party move to that point. It was extremely useful for moving your party to a specific point, such as the exit point from an area. That doesn't seem possible in W3.
These backwards steps from W2 are really grating on me. Am I missing something? Is there some way to restore the functionality present in W2? Is it just done differently in W3 and I'm somehow missing how to do it?
Another thing that either has been removed since W2 or I'm missing it is inventory sorting. It was simple and crude in W2, but it doesn't seem to exist at all in W3.
Also...trinkets. I don't see a way of seeing trinkets in the inventory other than showing the whole inventory and manually working through the whole lot to find trinkets. None of the subsections (weapons, armour, etc) show trinkets.
Great game, some annoying UI issues.
