hello everybody
i dont really no a lot about pc stuff but i did build my own pc with help from a freind who talked me threw it over ts :) its about 2 years old now i brought all the parts from overclockers started with a buddle pack and went from there. cost me roughly about £750. i do a lot of gaming and i am finding with the new games coming out that me pc is starting to struggle. so i was wondering wat i would need to upgrade my pc or even overclock it,even tho i have no idea where to start with that. but im told it helps but knowing my luck i would probley brake me pc :)
any way my spec is
intel (r)core (tm)2 cpu [email protected]
2 gig of ram ddr2 800 2x1gig of ram can add more ram
asus p5b motherboard pci express
power supply is corsair hx620w modular power supply
graphics card asus en 8800gts 320mb ddr3

so guys wat can i do to quicken up or make my pc better for the new games
and guys i havent got hugh money to spend and also i only built it 2 year ago if that :)
thks baz

Pretty minimal unless you are setting voltages to levels that would melt planets :D
We (and by "we" I meen the crazys on OcUK) are always happy to offer advice and help someone overclock there system who is new to it.

well so far wat i have done is printed out about overclocking in the part of the forum where it discuss overclocking. also went into the bious set up utility on start up now this is where i got lost im looking for fsb right ?.
so i went to advance and there were to choices ai tuning which was on auto and dram frequency also on auto. change ai tuning to manuel and click on it brought up another list cpu frequency which stated 266 ,dram which was auto pci express on auto etc etc then i saw which was the one i thought i needed was fsb termintion voltage which was on auto and when i click on it,it gave me 4 choices 1.200volts ,1.300 volts ,1.400 volts and 1.450 volts so after that i thought i was in wrong place

Its the CPU fequency you want, crank it up in small steps and see how you go.
You'll probbly find you hit a wall sooner or later and will ahve to start tweaking the cpu voltage to get more out of it.
Set the pci express to 100 and the ram as low as it will go to start with to eliminate it from the overclock.
You shouldnt need to mess with anything else yet.

this may soon stupid but how will i no if its made a difference
i no the temp has gone up alittle bit not much the frequency was 266 and i have put it to 275 pci is 100 like u said and the ram is on lowest setting at the moment

sorry i really dont no anything about this :) temps at moment on idle is 30 and 31 max temp is 85 i think
