Watch Media on Chromecast with Google TV from PC

I am not sure what forum this would be best in so please move if it needs to.

I have ripped some of my DVDs, Blurays etc to store on my main PC. I also have a Chromecast with Google TV dongle (the newer white one). Is there way I can use to browse these media files from my PC on the chromecast and watch them on my TV to save having to copy to USB etc?

Perhaps an app I can install on the Chromecast that will allow access to my PC e.g. a file manager style thing?

You could install Plex server on your pc, and then install the Plex client on your Chromecast. Really easy imo.

Screen mirror or a million media players to search the network.
Plex is a really good choice.
I think vlc can cast direct too.

Plex is very straight forward and deals with weird decoding on the fly.
