Watchdog - faulty dashboard

Renault scenics dashboards keep not working and apparently the presenter said that it's illegal and you would be breaing the law by driving with a faulty dashboard.

Never heard of this? Which law is this?

there's a couple of checks at MOT time (ABS, etc) that I know of.
 
You might not need it for a MOT however I would have thought you need one to legally drive it on the road.

No, although I doubt it'll help your defence if you break any speed limits. But as long as you keep to the speed limits, I don't see it as a problem.. you could use the speed indicator on your Sat Nav for example.

You need to get a speedo fitted to a Quad to make it road legal, I would have thought the same applies to cars. I don't know if a Sat Nav would count that can display speed might if it constantly displayed speed and was hard wired for power.
