Watching DVD on a 360

The way I watch my DVDs, I tend to have them as loud as possible, but I have a dedicated DVD player for it. When I have watched DVDs on my 360, it has been fine, though that's in a living room, sitting far away from it.

Hi,

I know that 360's are loud, so why would anyone watch a DVD on one? Is it quieter watching a DVD, or just as loud?

I think it's a lot quieter when watching DVDs from memory. I'm not entirely sure though. I'm sure someone who has actually got an Xbox 360 will come along in a couple of seconds to either prove me right or wrong :p

Whappers.

Fair enough. My 360 will be with me soon, I do have a dedicated DVD player but connected via Scart to my LCD atm, and through composite on the 360 it would prob look better. I might just buy some composite cables for the DVD player, but that would mean switching them when i want to go between 360 and DVD :(

surely you mean component cables and not composite

You can hear the 360 when a film goes quiet, but it's not that bad.

It's not a bad DVD player really, just a shame it doesn't upscale over component. No reason why it shouldn't, so hopefully MS will update it at some point.

Are they region locked the 360 DVD players? I ask because I own a number of Region 1 and 2 DVD's.
