When you press triangle while watching a DVD you get the option to change the 'Image Quality Adjustment'.

The Frame noise reduction, and the block noise reduction. They can be changed between Off - 3. What should they be set at? and what are their purposes.

im guessing it will be like the runnish you get on most LCD screens, so called picture enhancements that actually just make the the picture worse. Some just soften and blur the picture to get rid of grain etc.

Just leave them off

How are you finding the PS3 for DVDs, Iv heard it is a very good blue ray player but a truly terrible DVD player.

Ive been watching DVD's on it, it looks better on the ps3 than it does on the xbox 360, admittedly its not a reference DVD - House series 1, but it does look better.

I have watched a couple of DVD's (including The Departed) on my ps3 and its equivelant to my standalone Sony multiregion dvd deck (about £80 which itself is pretty reasonble over hdmi)

Obviously bluray is a huge improvement but playback of standard dvd is ok on my samsung 32"
