watching dvds?

hello i have a brand new laptop

3gig sempron with 512 ram and a X700 and its very laggy playing dvds how come?

Ctrl Alt Del everything so basiclly nothing is running but still the sound and the video play is crap

hope someone can help

it worked a week ago fine try now and it wont and nothing has been installed.

has it been on the internet with no firewall/antivirus
P.S to get it workin just restore it to when it was working using system restore

?? yep 3000sempron and will try system restore now. i have been on the net but have firewall / antivirus and keep them both up todate

3000+ sempron is 1.8ghz

Check the DVD drive is in DMA/UDMA mode, as if it's in PIO (which can be caused by various things, including apparently the starforce copy protection on some games) that will cause high CPU usage and low throughput from the drive during use, with the result it will probably stutter.

use system restore it makes life so much easier
