Watching Sky Sports Mobile through Monitor?

Hi all,

I have a Xperia Z2 and just bought a MHL 3.0 adapter and was hoping to watch some football games from my phone through to one of my new 32" 2560x1440 monitors.

After playing around somewhat I eventually got my phone to output to the monitor but when trying to watch one of the Sky Sports streams from the Sky Sports Mobile app a message appears which basically says along the lines of `External display detected`.

You could argue I may be a little cheeky here for trying this, but on the other hand I am paying for the use of this service and should have a free choice of how I want to watch it.

Does anyone have any ideas how to bypass this so I can watch the Sky Sports Mobile channels through my Monitor? I'm thinking maybe a third party app or along the lines of unlocked bootloader/custom roms maybe?

I added an old PC to my TV and play through the online app. Works fine so long as the TV is the main/only screen.

Had no luck playing from my mobile on the TV.
 
You'd need root to somehow mask an external display and sky go is very good at detecting that and refusing to work so it's a no go.
 
I was worried it might not be that straight forward.

Not sure about the chromecast or firetv sticks and don't really want to spend more money finding out just in case they don't work.
