watecooling quote

Have you tried running some diagnostic programmes like Mem-test to ensure your ram is ok, hd utilities form the hard disc manufacturer and run Prime to recheck full load temps.

Are all voltages and timmings set up correctly for the RAM ect.

Lol @ £750 for the thermaltake poo, heck i could come help you install one for less than half that using top notch kit.

Can you post some shots? (coretemp & cpu-z?) i honestly thing the paste is probably cheapo & the heatsink isnt sat properly :)

wow, I've put two watercooling rigs together so far, so am not the fastest kid on the block, but, £750-parts for maybe 2 hours of labour max? nice. wish I could charge that much :p

just got off the phone from them and as i said i couldn't afford the watercooling they then suggested as a temp fix to order special fans in at £20 a fan i dont think so, lol so all i got them doing now is making the cpu stable and setting the raid up. will have my computer back on monday.

Need a good watercooling kit that will cool everything down and fit in the case - links please

Also need a watercool fitter guy or attractive female prefered near swansea.
Any takers?

im sure your tuniq tower shoudl cope with your CPU

can you take pics of yoru PC can see how its setup inside and how the air flow is.

Maybe that a new Case would jsut be a better option.

Have you tried taking one of the 8800GTX's out to see how it runs with a single card?

I found that adding a 2nd card in my system, the top card was hitting over 110c during load, also my CPU temp and overall system temp was a lot higher, more than 5c IIRC.

You might well find that it's the GTX's that are overheating, and nothing else. As said above, we really need a photo of the inside layout of your PC. Also, check how the case fans have been installed. I have seen several times fans that should be intakes being used as exhausts and vice-versa. Something worth checking.

I'll tell you know, straight from experience .. The Kandalf isn't a good enough case for custom watercooling. It's big enough but the design is poor, even for modding. The res would have to be external.

As a PC tech, I wouldn't ever offer water cooling as a solution or service as 1. It would take too long and thus expensive and two, it would be difficult to offer any form of gauaruntee and 3.. I'm not sure if my public liability insurance would cover any accidents as a result of faults.

It sound to me if he is trying to sell you something just to make some fast cash.. However, he maybe underestimating the task in hand.

Yep, a good case would be the best place to start, that is if you have already sorted out the cabling. There are some pretty decent high end watercooling kits on OCUK but i would throughly suggest doing the research and installed it yourself.

Also, i'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but how are you measuring you temps? If you're using the temp in the bios, then please report back with a core temp screen shot.

Yep as above. If i was you, i would

  • Reseat your heatsink
  • Sort your cable management out
  • Ensure that you cooling is positive - i.e., you have as much coming in as you have coming out and that the flow of air is all in one direction.
If after that, your still getting really bad temps then i perhaps you might want to investigate watercooling.

Fro £750 I would travel to Swansea, supply high end watercooling kit, a new case and fit it and I would make a healthly profit!

He's robbing you big style.

cabling all neat and tidy have 3 x 12" fans in the front and tuniq tower blowing in and 12" fans at the back + 1 at the top and another on the PSU blowing out. will post photo's monday when i get it back

what case would you suggest and would watercooling come with it? or is it best to buy seperate?

Sorry for swear word too :)

i hear the lian li v2000 is good?

You are most likely getting the BSOD from the 680i motherboard. They are renown for being crap at clocking quadcore processors. Oh and 4x1gb in a 680i is also not the best idea if you are overclocking.

For £750 you could buy a phase change kit and a new case nvm a thermatake watercooling setup. I have built a couple of units for folk on these forums and niether came in at over £300 inc postage, labour and parts, and they were the best components money could buy. £250 would get you the very best kit available, add the price of a good case and the price of fitting/postage and you should still come away with £250 change easy.

It's really not that difficult to DIY if you can read and navigate the forums.

I'd suggest you try and find whats causing the problems first, make sure it deffinatly is overheating, and not issues with BIOS, Crap motherboard, RAM issues etc etc, because with the speeds you're running, i.e. stock speeds, there is no way it should be over heating really.

£20 a fan? TBH I would pick your pc up now and tell them where to go!!! I would hate to think what they are charging you for "normal work".

I'd suggest taking your pc home. Then check all the fans, Usually dust clogging them cases temps to rise a lot.

My 8800gtx was in the high 80's once. Took it out cleaned loads of dust from the fan and problem fixed.

Also like other have suggested check everything.

Those people are just trying to take advantage of you.

750 for just watercooling, and 20 quid for a fan. thats just amazing that someone would actually charge that.

selfish person.

stay away from that shop.

i cant see the need yet, but if i was you id learn how to do watercooling yourself. i cant imagin it being that hard considering LOADS of people do it. its also an extra bonus if something goes wrong you know how to deal with it and how to fix it. and be sure to overclock if you do (and have not already, which you should have);)
