Hi, I have an Apogee GT which I have had for 3 years or so I think.

In its time its cooled an e6600, e8400 and now a Q6600.
I remember reading it wasnt "optimized" for quads which got me thinking. My temps are 61c under load but my OC'd 5870 is also dumping into the same loop.

So Im thinking about buying the EK-Supreme HighFlow. Do you think its worth it? I would surely see a more than 2 - 3c drop right? Ive never really liked the mounting of the Apogee, never feels very compressed.

Ill also be replacing my Black Ice GT Stealth 360 With a ThermoChill PA140.3 Radiator (20mm).

So, is it worth changing my Apogee GT?

Remeber that if you want to really know what is what, you need to change the parts separately.

Try the block first (althogh I wouldn't have changed it to be honest, still a good block) and see how much benefit that gives you. Then (in a perfect world) put the old block back and change the radiator using the original fans.

What you're going to do is change the block, the radiator and the fans. But if you do, you won't know which (if any) of the changes was beneficial.

Ya, I spent a bit of time contemplating that. The radiator was a definite buy. Been promising myself a Thermochill for quite some time. The 140 will have a great surface area considering I dump both the GPU and CPU into the loop.

So I wasn't really asking the performance of it, the perforamnce increase I was really asking about is the block, its a fine block but I think its seen its day though. We both know Ill see an improvement with the EK block, but if its 2c, then whats the point? 5c or more and IMO its worth it. The Apogee doesnt owe me a penny after all this time. So Im happy.

Though I doubt Ill do it seperately. Its a bit of a pain to change one item after draining and refilling, only to do it shortly after.

I cant see the result of singularly changing them being of interest to anyone, so I have no motivation to do it.

It's all about getting the right components to create a well balanced cooling system. The right blocks to go with the pump, length of loop etc and the right fans to go with the fin density of the radiator.

Well, Its a pretty decent set up as it is. The parts arrived. EK stuff is always so pretty! and the rad is mahoosive!

But my loop as it currently is consists of:
Swiftech MCP655V
TYGON R3603 1/2" ID
Swiftech Micro res
Swiftech Apogee GT
EK HD5870
Black Ice GT Stealth 360 with 6 YateLoons in pull.

Now, its time to figure out where to fit this radiator.

Well I got the all copper block so the premium one, it cost me £57 :)

But I made a school boy error. I didnt realise Thermochill's come with non standard barb fittings. So the DD fatboy's I bought for it dont fit hehe. So ordering some.

So, all that got replaced is the apogee for the EK Supreme HF copper.

So far, its improved.

It may get better yet, as everything settles. Also Im gonna go for more compression.
