Good morning peoples.

Bought my first water cooling kit and got it last night.

I havent sat and read the manual throughly will do at work today.

But can anyone advise if arctic silver paste is fine to use with my processor water block?

Im a total newbie to water cooling.

On a second point i have gone for the Antec Titan case, it comes with a 120mm rear fan but no fronts, it has the option to install 2x92mm fans. i was looking to instal these so i can keep the hard drives cool what fans would be best recomended?

Cheers, didnt want to use the wrong thing and find out i burn a lovely hole right through the water block.

End up with my CPU in a jacuzi

Cheers chaps. got some lying about so wil utalise it tonite.

Cant wait to go home and get wired in about my new load of kit. sitting grinning like a Cheshire cat here

even if you used no TIM you'll kill your chip before the waterblock 'burnt'

The Thermaltake Big Water is not the best of kit's (sorry) not even sure if the vent at the front is intake or outlet, but if your HHD are over 50c get a 92mm fan and run it at 7v and you should be fine

It wouldnt surprise me if the kits not great. everyone goes on about how kits arent any good. my point for it is i didnt want to go buy water cooling equipment that i have to buy seperate to then go make a complee mess of it all. id rather start with a kit and progress.

No harm in that - I started in a simular way, just with a second hand Zalman Res2 :)

I must admit that I really like the bayres look, it's a shame the performance isn't up to what the same money will give you with a custom kit.

Also some of the kit's are ok, it's all in the knowing. Enjoy installing it, and just take your time and you should be fine.

I have just installed my 1st water cooling kit, all seperate items. So far so good it hasnt leaked! However there is a pretty major kink in one of the pipes, which isnt affecting temps much at the moment, will propbabally drain and re set it all next month when I have a bit of spare time.

Looks so cool though, which is the main reason I went for wc anyway :)

I just fancied something different.

Everyone goes on about a quiet pc which is understandable, but when i built my first and current machine i ordered an incompatible PSU, i then went to a local shop and bought a budged one Jeesus lord the Dyson Vacume cleaner was quiter than this so if its anything less than that i will be happy.

Please tell me your not running the hardware in your sig with a low grade psu.

Seriously get a 450/500w quality psu, (enermax 82+, Zalman HP, Seasonic/Corsair) and protect your hardware and reduce the noise asap.

Nah bought a new one cant honestly mind the name but its 600W.

The only good thing for that psu is melting it down for scrap.

To OP,

I'm building a ultra high end custom water next month as I've been researching for the last year about the (in's) and (out's) of water cooling and I've always heard that Arctic Ceramique Thermal Compound is best to use on water blocks as its non-conductive.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=OA-004-AC&tool=3

I'm really starting at the deep end with my WC Setup but like most people have said, if you take your time you should be fine. I'm planning mine to the very last detail.

Hope it all goes well mate,

RoEy

Cheers.

Im indending on making something ridiculous later on in life but this is theoreticaly my second build i am still trying to learn things.

Ive never had any training on anything pc like so want to teach myself and have learned so much in the past year. i dint want to buy all the parts to end upt making a fizzing mess that anly good as an ornament. lol

Can't fault you mate. I've been building systems for years so that side of things isnt going to be a problem but I am new to Water Cooling. Having said that though, I tend to do crazy amounts of research into everything I build so I'm confident I'll be able to pull it off.

I will pull it off ....:D

I hope you refer to pulling off your system not anything else :S lol

I usualy do a lot of searching first but compound had completely missed my mind

Arctic Ceramique is good - use MX-2 myself as I find it a little easyier to apply the right amount. It's also non-conductive and has no 'burn in' time unlike AS5.

The better build logs (with lots of detail and close up photo's) really help when you thinking about major projects. They can also highlight areas that you may not have thought about (MosFet cooling / Fan mounting / cable braiding / barb threads / Bios tweeks etc)

What does this mean. im being lazy but at work and cant be bothered with google.

I always remember the word being used when doing car sound systems in the past
