I know you guys are probably sick of this question buttttttt.....:D

I'm fed up with fans and noisy cpu coolers!

Looking at the water cooling gear on OcUK's catalogue. What would be a good setup for going into an akasa eclipse case to cool mt vga card ati x1950xtx and my cpu is Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 on an Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi.

I'm looking at spending no more then £200, I have seen the kits but usually you get better performance out of a custom one. Is £200 enough or would I need to put more in?

Cheers,

Ben.

First have a good read of the sticky, it'll bring you more upto speed
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17598033

ok, here is what I would look at.

Thermochill pa120.3 rad, £55 then get the fan shroud (around 10 iirc)
Car antifreeze, you could use water wetter. I use antifreeze, works for me
Laing DDC 3.2 Ultra with Plexi £55
Swiftech Storm £55 ish
Northblock cooler £20
dd maze 5 low profile gfx cooler with ram sinks £35 You could buy a full face block for £70, but you would have to change it with every new card
Res of your choice 20-40
1/2" or 3/8" tubing, upto you
fans £15 each for quiet ones or you could get cheaper and use a fan controller

For the main parts i recommend..

For the CPU block get the D-Tek FuZion for around £38 which is best for Dual and Quad Cores.

I'm using the Swiftech MCW60 Block for my ATI X1950XT £27 but the Maze 5 should be fine too.

No need really for a Northbridge block as it slows the flow rate.

The Rad size will depend on the space in your case, or you can mount it externally.

The rest is up to you.

A PA120.1 will be sufficiant with the e6600 and P5W as you are never going to get fantastic clocks from that board. A PA 160 should just cope with an E6600 and GFX card if you are not overclocking. Otherwise. 2x PA120.1's, or PA160's would be the basis for a top end cooling system.

pumps: DD D5 or DDC2 with aftermarket top. The DDC is the best performer but the DD D4/5 are more reliable.

I agree that the D-Tek blocks are the best CPU blocks ATM alongside the Swiftech Apogee GTX. (not taking into account bowed bases, nozzles and copper tops). The Fuzion GPU blocks are also nice.

Add some Yate loon Fans, 7/16th" tubing, add water and Zerez and you are good to go. :)

I was thinking of future proofing him incase he went mad :D Hence the 120.3 and the DDC. I couldn't remember the name of the Swiftech blocks earlier (been a while since my last wc upgrade). I'm still using a 939 RBX here although I can see an upgrade coming on.

aboo would do just got a 120x3 from o/c this week. shame got no fan screws what were ment to come with tho.

DD tdx block are all good for c2d same price as D-Tec block what are good the both duel and quad.

I have just bought and installed the following onto my Asus P5WDH Deluxe with Q6600 B3 today. I am only using this for my CPU.

Danger Den TDX
BlackIce GT Stealth
Laing 12V DDC + PetrasTech Top
3 Meters XSPC High Flex Hose
1/2" Jubilee Hose Clips
1 Litre Feser One Cooling Liquid
120mm Fan

Only put it together tonight so not done much testing really.

But currently sat at 3ghz 1.35vcore idle temps of : 42,47,43,46 c.

Load running 4 instances of prime 62,63,63,65 c after 20 minutes.

I'm pretty happy with that so far. Will push it more when i have more time.

Extremely similar temps as my setup djay but I'm just using air to cool it!
What volts you putting through to get 3ghz? Only putting 1.2v after vdroop myself

As i said 1.35vcore :D

I probably dont need that much, as i said i have not really tested at all. Is it a B3 you are using also? What cooler you using? Also are they core temp temps your talking about?

Yeah its a B3 I'm using.
Just come out of playing HL2 for an hour and coretemp is 44-43-39-39
Using a Tuniq Tower 120, going to lap the CPU and HS as soon as I get my PSU so temps will hopefully lower by 5c if I am lucky!

Well those temps seem pretty amazing to me, what they like when running prime on all 4 cores?

Perhaps i should rip all this WC setup out and get a tuniq tower then, either that or im doing something seriously wrong. Just upped it now to 3.2ghz, same voltage gonna play some bioshock.

Did Prime the other day and I think the temps were around 65c-ish, can't remember exactly!
Might sell the B3 for a G0 though as I wanted 3.4ghz ideally and it might only cost me £30 more!

Yeah that sounds more like it. I just exited from Bioshock and my temps hadn't changedin core temp. By the time you exit a game the cpu has cooled, not really a test to see temps. Prime95 is though.

Man, just upped it to 3.2ghz and played bioshock, then this horrendous screeching noise came through my speakers. Quit back to desktop and its still doing it? Gonna put it back to 3ghz until i research this a bit more.
