Hi Guys,

Am looking at getting into water cooling. Ideally I would like to cool my q6000 and 8800 GTX within the loop. I know you can buy kits already made up, is this the best option? Or can someone advise on which parts work well together?

In addition I am looking at replacing my existing case with something this:

or this, which already has water cooling set-up:

Or final option:

These are just my thoughts, but I am by no means an expert, so any suggestions on the best combination is most welcome.

I have an abit pro board, if that info is useful.

Thanks,
Lea

I dont know anything about water cooling really but i can advise you a tiny bit.
Best option is to buy the parts seperatly, PA120.2 will suffice for that loop. Then maybe a D-Tek and DDen for the CPU and GPU. You'll need a pump aswell, not sure but think the Swiftech MCP350 is good.

Someone soon will head you in the best direction.

You may find weescotts' article helpful and with links http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17803239

The thread will give you an insight.

A custom set up will allow you more flexibility.

I would highly recommend a D-Tek Fuzion cpu bloc, if you decide to upgrade to a quad core in the future this block will suffice .

D-Tek Fuzion flows significantly better than any other CPU block giving it a distinct advantage in multi-block loop performance

The D-Tek Fusion nozzle accelerator kit is also available as well for this block, included is the quad core core nozzle accelerator

Clear Acrylic blocks i avoid as they are prone to cracking around the barb area.

The radiator most probably recommended by forum members would be probably a Thermo chill PA120.3

Rads with less dense cores such as the Thermo chill PA series get away with lower speed / quieter fans For example yate loon.

As to the graphic card block either the Danger Den Block http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-004-DD&groupid=701&catid=193&subcat=

or the Fuzion Block http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-001-DT&groupid=701&catid=193&subcat=

As for hose size/ barbs would be a personal preference either 3/8, or 1/2. There is no difference regarding performance between the two.

As for the pump you could consider a Laing DDC 12v pro water tank (volume 110ml). The res is attached to the pump (110ml). Space saving and removes the need to place a res in a bay or o/s the case.

Regarding tubing i would use Tygon as it is laboratory grade tubing. It is flexible, clear and also kink resistant. Due to its laboratory grade film deposits do not build up and line the inside of the tubing.

As for a complete kit i have used this Alpha cool kit with both the D-Tek Block and Danger Den Block and it performs extremely well

Other members will, i am sure have further input.

You will find the links in weescotts' guide help full.

As to fluid i use Feser1 all though there are others on the the market.

It has been a while since I installed all my watercooling and have been totally out of it for like 3 months but I still personally think case wise the Lian Li's are hard to beat. Seeing the options you are gong for then a Lian Li V2000 is within your budget. This is the case I have and yes it requires some modding but imo its worth it. The case quality is something else and tbh modding it isn't that hard just do your reading and think about and plan what you intend to do. To give you an idea before the rig in my sig I had never done watercooling before or modded a case. It took me a while to get things organised and then cut but damn was it worth it. If your after some pics then just ask.
