I`am looking to water cool my PC this will be my first attempt. my system is as follows...
Asus Rampage Extreme
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650
Akasa Eclipse 62 Case
Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
G.Skill 4GB DDR3 PI PC3-12800C7 1600MHz

So what do you guys recommend ?

Thanks in advance.

Warning : Watercooling is expensive, and requires maintenance. The performance gains aren't all you might hope. Finally when it comes time to upgrade you have the choice of paying more because you need more blocks, or stepping back from watercooling, or having to run some awful combination of water and air cooling. That said I'm on water :P

Some blocks can be reused on a later system, im sure if you had bought something like one of those swiftech GPU blocks you could have used it on a number of GFX cards by just changing the mounting brackets. Not the same with the full cover blocks though.

Im using my old GF4 waterblock to cool the chipset of my old 939 system,
plus things like the waterpump, radiator and reservoir can be reused.

I have been using watercooling since my old socket A athlons and i wouldnt go back to air cooling, watercooling for me is best because you can make it very quiet with good temps and i havent really had any problems with watercooling, just change the fluids once a year or so and flush out the system, allthough thats with water/antifreeze combo i havent tried that feser one non conductive liquid stuff that seems to be all the rage.

I think if you can build your own computer it shouldnt be to much of a problem fitting a watercooling kit, allthough i would use that feser one liquid as then you havent got to worry so much about leaks in the system, allthough i havent had any problems with leaks.

Mostly all you would modify on your case is if your mounting the radiator on the outside of the case you would need to make two holes for the tubing to outisde to the rad, which isnt to hard to do and a lot of new cases allready have those allready done on the back so shouldnt be to much of a problem.

I think if you want a quiet system with good temps watercooling is great, i didnt get it so much for mega overclocking more for quietness, but a good system with a big rad will keep temps down as well quite nicely.

Same here. That's why I'm going to get it also. But it then gives you the option to get into overclocking at a later stage. Plus I think it looks awesome when done right.

Same case as yours mate. Here are some pics you might find interesting considering our set ups are VERY similar :D

Swiftech GTZ
Thermochill PA120.3
Laing DDC 18w
XSPC Reservoir Top
10ft 7/16 tubing
3 x yate loon 120mm

above would total about £190ish

*edit* if you want to WC the 4870x2 then add another £80 or so onto the amount. I would recommend it, the air cooler is a bit

thermochill rads are better than the swiftech offering as they use a dual row dual pass form factor, opposed to the swiftech which is single row dual pass.

check this http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=77260

"As you can see from the above figures, the PA120.2 with shroud manages to effectively match the Swiftech MCR320, with less noise due to fewer fans in play..."
