i was thinking about getting a simple water cooling setup for my 2500 barton chip. How easy is fitting a water cooling kit and how much could i expect to spend?

I have only had one wc'ing kit and its a coolermaster aquagate R80mm. That is basic and all you really need to worry about is where you will fit the 80mm rad/fan. Usually works with the rear 80mm blowhole found in a lot of cases.

Now, I would advise against a very basic kit like this because they dont offer much over a good air cooled system.

Basic setup, pump/cpu block intergrated, rad and fan. Thats it!!!

Cost around £50-£60.

80mm rad? Nooooooo

Get a 120.1 rad. Second hand kit from MM you are talking c£80.

Easy to set up. You just need to make sure you leak test properly.

One deciding factor is whether your socket-A motherboard has the four mounting holes around the socket. If it does, you will have a greater choice of waterblock.

Also think about where in your case you could put a radiator. They're not small things so think carefully. Check the sticky (linked in my sig) and look through the gallery to get some ideas. I know there's a lot fo pics missing and way too much comment instead of pics but there's still some useful stuff in there. (Is it too much to ask for a don to put the water-cooling sticky back? At least one of he stickies in this forum isn't particularly useful and we seem to get an awful lot of questions about water-cooling!)

I was surprised at the choice of archived material too. Pitty we cant have more than 3 stickies :( . At least it's not like XS where there are 15 stickes per section. :p
