So, i got a 7970 for free and rather than thinking "sweet, just saved a ton of money!" i now want to spend my graphics card fund that i was building up on water cooling my system. Never actually done it before and im sure its a lot more simple than first comes to mind, i just don't really know what to buy :P ...

If anyone could give us a shout and let us know what i should purchase, would be greatful, the aim would to have both the card and the cpu watercooled as that stock cooler on the 7970 is nasty and ruins my colour scheme!

Ta!

How the hell did you get that for free ???
Whats your budget? - you didnt state if your gpu budget had been for a 7970 or what, but if it was thats a lot of cooling money!!

Case and budget?

Without knowing the above Id say:
YOUR BASKET
1 x XSPC Razor 7970 GPU Waterblock £82.99
1 x XSPC RayStorm CPU WaterBlock (Intel) £49.98
2 x XSPC EX240 120mm Radiator - Black £39.98 (£79.96)
1 x EK DCP 4.0 Pump (12v) £39.98
1 x XSPC Single 5.25” Bay Reservoir - Multi Fascia £24.98
2 x Mayhems Aurora - Supernova Clear Coolant 1L £14.99 (£29.98)
1 x OcUK Tube Cutter Aluminum 3-14mm £8.50
1 x Masterkleer Hose Pack PVC 12,7/9,5mm (3/8"ID) Clear 3,3m (Ideal for EK Kits) £6.98
12 x OcUK 3/8" G1/4 - High Flow Style - Black Nickel - Compression Fitting £2.48 (£29.76)
1 x OcUK Value PSU Bridging Connector (24 Pin) £1.30
Total : £366.47 (includes shipping : £10.00).

Obviously preferences comes into play here, if you like bay res's, if you can fit a tube res, can you fit 2x 240mm rads? I think the pump could do with being upgraded as I dont think it would give enough pressure for 2 rads, CPU and GPU.
I think thats all you would need....hopefully (awaits WC guru's)

It's a long story as to how i got hold of the card. But, i got it ;)

My budget was for a 7970 or 680 so that price, so can afford something nice ^^

Case is a NZXT phantom.

You can't use the Aurora for everyday cooling.

The OCuK V12 and V10 kits or The EK 360 HFX kit (Which I started with) are all good value for money and would be more than enough to cool your set up. I added a bay res, 2 x EK7950 blocks and an extra 120 rad - (the 360 would have been more than enough).

Really happy with the results :)

But you can use pastel :D

Basically the way i got the card was all down to me getting mugged about in an apprenticeship ... so i found myself a new job and for finding a new job on my own, they gave me £250 in vouchers for a certain site that usually sells books and what not for the kindle, me being me accepted these kindly, then they decided to give me another £250 for having such a pants time!, so those vouchers i got for free went on a new keyboard and a 7970 ;)

I like the look of the EK 360 HFX kit ... looks rather tastey to say the least. Rad looks pretty large, but is it a good idea to run a card and a cpu of one rad?

If your serious about water cooling you should look at getting something like the BitFenix Shinobi XL at the very least. Mid size towers are great for air cooling and small water cooling setups but if your going to cool everything you need the space a full size tower can give.

Indeed it won't a HAF x will :)

Quite a few cases are a pain to squeeze a 360 in. The shinobi has a stupid plastic bit under the top panel meaning you have to put the fans in the case under the rad instead of under the top panel

But its such a damn ugly case :(

All about the white and blue theme i've got goin!
yes i know.

If you're up for modding then the opportunities are endless.

coolermaster 690 II black and white or the corsair 600t white edition both take 240's so you could go for a 240 and a 120.
