Hi all, quick WC question, if I was to purchase a WC kit to cool my 5970 and CPU (currently a Q9550) would the block for that CPU be transferrable to say an i7 Sandybridge for when I get round to upgrading?

I'm contemplating spending the money to OC it, not just for the performance, but also for the reduction in noise due to having less fans in the PC, but if it won't work on the new CPU I'm not going to bother for now.

Cheers,

depends on what block you get.

if its a brand new one out on the market then im sure the brackets will be in there for every cpu.

socket 775 coolers will fit my sandy bridge motherboard ;)

C.C.O. (Combo Cooler Option)
C.C.O., stands for Combo Cooler Option, is another exclusive hardware design on ASRock boards. C.C.O. provides the flexible options to adopt different CPU cooler types and matches your socket LGA775, LGA1155 / LGA1156 CPU cooler in the respective holes. Once again, ASRock has successfully expanded the utilization of PCB by the exclusive C.C.O. design.

I'd recommend looking at something like the XSPC Rasa block. Seems to be very well regarded for the money.

I used a XSPC Rasor block for my 5870 overclocked, temps never went over 46'c with my i7920 4.2GHz in the same loop, can't complain at that for the price, but using a EK Full Cover block on my 470 at 850/1700/200 with same set up it peaks at 50.:)
