bios disable monitoring or if using d5 vario just plug the rpm counter into it

+1 this, I had to do it for my Maximus VI Formula

Plug in the RPM line. Set something up to shutdown computer if CPU RPM = zero otherwise there's entirely a possibilty that your pump dies on you and you end up frying something or getting a block start to leak on you.
