Water cooling smell

Hi there,

I have a zalman resorator 1 and have been using it for the last 4 years or so, and I've recently moved from a relatively large room to a relatively small room and have suddenly really started noticing a smell coming from the watercooling loop.

I think primarily it's coming from the tubing, but I'm not sure whether it is the tubing itself or the liquid that's been used (distilled + zalman anti corrison solution) that's causing the smell.

Has anyone else ever noticed a problem with either the tubing or the liquid specifically? and if so has anyone got any advice as to what tubing/liquid to go with to try and remove this smell?

Thanks in advance.

Have you ever drained and replaced the liquid in the last 4 years, if you haven't then I recommend a scratch build, replace the tubes and clean out the blocks, radiator and reservoir if used.
Then refill it with distilled water mixed with biocide (to prevent algae growth) and anti-corrosion fluid

:)

Kind Regards

I've done a liquid and tube replacement once before (same tubes, same solution, about a year ago) and it didn't really make a difference to the smell, this smell has been noticable all along but in a large room near an open window it doesn't have too much impact, it's only been because of the shift to a small room that I'm really seeking some sort of solution to it.

What's the best method to clean out the blocks?

Personally I take the blocks apart and clean them, if you can't take them apart then flushing them through with isopropyl alcohol works well :)
