Alright People.

I'm going to water cool my Conroe, but I need to know what to get, I dont wanna get a kit and I want to watercool both my CPU and GPU. I want the bestest of everything... so please just spec away untill your hearts content :) and I will be ordering on monday... I have heard that DD are really good...

My GPU is a X1900XT I dont know what will fit that

Because of time considerations I DID buy a kit:Swiftech H20-220 Apex "Ultra"

but to cool my 2 x1900 cards I used these:Swiftech MCW60 VGA Waterblock X2

and boy, have they been effective. Almost halved the temps on the cards making clocking a piece of cake!

The best thing you coould do is buy a kit. They offer pretty much unrivaled value, to which you can then add your GPU block. Swiftech are probably the best kits available from OcUK.

If you're dead set on not buying a kit then someone else can help you as I don't really know the best bits :p

Thanks guys... and I understand where your coming from but I think that I will build my own rather then get the kits... anyone got any advice please??

Storm G5 cpu block (GL in finding one!!), maybe even wait for G7
PA 120.3 Rad
Iwaki RD-30 pump

GPU blocks?? dunno maybe Maze 4 or them full alphacool ones.
Tygon 1/2 tubing.

I only wish I could justify spending that much on cooling :(

DIY was certainly the way to go a couple of years ago but Swiftech have always been a market leader and have had the benefit of design input from two of the most respected experts in water-cooling - Bill Adams and Cathar.
  • The Swiftech kits include Laing-manufactured pumps being either the D5 or the DDC, with either the excelllent MCRES-MICRO for the D5 or the pump/res integration of the MCRES1000P.
  • Their Apogee block is not the best but is certainly excellent value and the best-performing block will get you another degree or so cooler but no more and will cost you a lot more.
  • The Swiftech rads may not be quite up to the Thermochill PA120 range but you'll be hard pushed to measure the difference.
  • The included 7/16" tubing is commonly held to be a perfect trade-off between performance and ease of routing.
  • The CoolSleeves stuff for wrapping around the tubing on tight bends works really well.

So what's not to like. Because it's a "kit"? The Apex Ultra kit plus the MCW60 VGA blocks will give you a perfectly co-ordinated, good-looking system with top-drawer performance as near to optimal cooling as you could probably achieve buying disparate parts from multiple manufacturers.

Footman - what temps are you getting with this setup on your cpu and gpu's (in the current climate)

I have a similar setup and have issues with it not being as cool as it should be ?

Hmmmm a Conroe eh?

Right, i would get... or should i say.. mine:

*Storm G4 (Quite rare now, should fit), or a Cascade SS

*EK-FCX1800 X1800/X1900 or 1/2" Tyee X-Fire

*Laing D5 or Laing DDC

*PA120.2mm Rad or PA120.3mm Rad

*Resevoir (depending on your personal preferences)

*Muskaleer 7/16 Tubing

Edit: I know a few places which still stock G4's so just PM me if you wants :) )

These are a bit of a hit and miss situations whereby one Apogee may be better/worse than another Apogee or vice-versa.

Cascades and Storms are excellent but the design for them means that they need a lot of care just a few months down the line its gonna get clogged and need cleaning if ya have the time no problem.

PA rads are very large compared to other makes so make sure you have the room in your case if your mounting internally. a smaller rad is a BIX II or the new Stealth GT which are minute

everythin else in the list is good

does it fit ok on 1/2" barbs??

Stelly

Yup, slides on no probs (if not just dip the end in some hot water (with assistance from an adult :p) it's removing it that's a bit harder, lol.
