In the new year I'm going to spend a bit on computer parts, I'm buying a lian li Pc7 + case and I'm thinking of wacking water cooling in,
how much would a decent watercooling setup cost, I've had a look at the swiftech kits, and the thermal take kits, I did post ages ago about the thermal take kits, I read some reviews that said they were quite good, but you guys didn't like them. have they improved any
I like the look of the swiftech kits but I would like a bit more bling in it, such as:
Uv reactant tubes
Uv reactant coolant
see thru water blocks

thanks

Just purchased my watercooling setup to be fitted over Christmas. It looks like this:

CPU: Alphacool NexXxos XP 64 Sok 939 CPU Cooler
RAD: ThermoChill PA120.2 Double 120mm Radiator
Pump: Swiftech DD12V-D5 1/2" ID
GPU: Danger Den Maze5 GPU Sli Kit
RES: XSPC 5.25" Bay Reservoir - Clear
Barbs
Jubilee Clips 12-20mm
Tubing

The Swiftech kits seem to be good, not heard much about the others. Im new to all this anyway so i cant advise as well as im sure others can :)

Id advise to research it a good bit before you buy it. After a bit of research and advice i just ordered my first watercooling set up. A guy helped me spec a custom kit from a watercooling site.

cpu: mp-05 (was advised storm isnt the best for qx6700)
pump: ddc ultra with plexi top
rad: Thermochill pa120.2
res: dd bay res
tubbing
clips
blue dye
coolant

this came to around £200 (almost spent the same kind of cash on poor set up), i still need to buy a DD 8800 waterblock. I hope it all does the job, im pretty sure it will though, i bought it all with good confidence as i had done a bit of researched. My only issue is this tj09 case i stupidly bought, great looking case but not much room for a thermochill rad in it. Ill get it in there though! :)

I recently purchased:

Aqua Extreme MP-05-SP-LE
Danger Den Tyee
Thermalright HR-05 SLI Chipset Cooler
Laing D5
Thermochill PA 120.2
Danger Den Single Bay Res
8foot of Masterkleer 7/16 tubing
Red Dye
Zerex Water additvie
2 Barbs for radiator
19 Jubilee clips
Arctic Silver 5
2 Asaka Ambers

Came to around £300, but my god, i cant wait to get it working. I would suggest the swiftech kits personally, as what i have purchased is a little OTT, and they have everything you need, really.

Also i am going to have to mod by P180 to fit it all inside (ive measured it, it can be done, with difficulty) and i need to buy another hard drive as i just ran out of space

how much did all that come to?

Came to just about £300. :)

Get a Swiftech kit. For a newcomer to water, they really are a safe good bet. Depending on what you want to cool, get a single 120mmx120mm rad for just a cpu, or a 120x240 rad for cpu and gpu. Swiftech's pumps are excellent and the blocks are good performers for the money. Unlike earlier generation kits from the likes of Asetek and later ones from Thermaltack, Swiftech have a long history of quality cooling components and have been able to get a mass manufacturing deal out of China that allows them to sell at reasonable prices. Don't be deceived by the lowish prices - the kits have quality components.

I have both custom kits built around 1/2" components and a Swiftech kit built around 3/8" and the Swiftech one is currently keeping on the shelf a range of quality custom components because it's doing an excellent job.

Modded my P180 for a WC setup...see sig. ;)

I plan to do a front fan mod, and get rid of that stupid bracket the fan used to be on. The rad will then be in the bottom of the case. Im also going to get rid of that black plastic separating the two sections, it is so annoying for cable management .. im going to have the single bay res mounted in a drive bay, with the pump on top of it.... leading to cpu --> gpu then back to rad

OK so I think I'm going to go for a swiftech kit, just a few questions.
1. I'm probs going to go with just the cpu option atm but maybe upgrade in the future is this easy?
2. What add on parts Eg acryic water blocks could I get from ocuk my socket is 939
3. where in a Pc7+ can I mount a 2x12 rad?
4.where is the best place to put the pump & res etc.. how to I stick them to the case?

thanks

Merry christmas

Depends on what you want to do.

Buy a kit that suits a 939 socket. The Apex Ultra kit will support 939.

It's easy to add additional blocks later. You just need the block and possibly extra tubing. You drain the kit, add the new block & tube, re-fill.

In a PC7 I would put the rad out the back using the supplied Swiftech Radbox which allows for easy mounting on the back of the case. It requires no modding and ensures that all the heat is removed from the case.

Pump and res would be easy in a PC7 but the normal place for a D5 pump would be at the bottom rear of the case and the res in the 5¼" bays at the front.
