Hi there

Its been happening for a while now, when it rains the water seems to drip in from above the accelerator pedal (right hand drive car).

When its been raining heavy and its like putting my foot in a puddle.

I did check the cabin/panel filter for leafs etc but it didn't seem blocked and apparently this effects the passenger side mainly? (same side as the filter).

I have also heard it could be the AC unit drain blocked. Not sure how I would check/unblock this?

Thanks,

I'm sure I've heard that the older Seat Leon's suffer this due to the door seals wearing over time and need replacing? A colleague has a 54 plate Leon (not sure what mk that is) but he's had the same issue with the rear passenger footwells and had to have the door seals replaced.

Ive got a '54 Leon and the rear passenger footwell is getting all wet

I am told its the inner door lining which fails, you need to buy a load of that black gunk glue stuff and stick it back together. Ive not yet done mine, im hoping thats the issue with it as its not very saleable all wet....

Might just take it to a garage as I have found black tape slightly to the right of the accelerator pedal and up.

Ive had the car for 2 years in March. Someone probably bodged it a while back lol

I replaced the door seals on my gfs car with butyl strips as she was getting heavy condensation inside the car in the winter. This seemed to pretty much fix it. There is a very good guide on seatcupra.net of how to do it and only took a couple of hours to do all doors. However if your getting water dripping from above the accelerator pedal, this is going to be water leaking from the bottle of the wind screen where a piece of trim may not have been put vck properly? It's a bit odd because this normally happens on the passenger side where the cabin filter hasn't been put back in properly.

If it's coming in from above the accelerator pedal it could be a failed grommet in the bulkhead. I had similar in my old Corrado years ago and while I couldn't remember the exact culprit it was a perished grommet in the bulkhead that was the cause.

I had to replace the carpets and sound deadening in the drivers sides because of the wetness.

I had an old Toledo which had this issue and it was a peice of cake. Just pop the door card off and you'll see the inner door frame with the window mechanism bolted to it. Just run a bead of sealant around it, job done - mine didnt leak after that.

The hard part is getting it dry inside again as it soaks into the sound proofing!

I'll just run a fan heater inside it with the windows open for a couple of days if necessary :)

Is it obvious when you get the door card off, i might go and tackle this right now if bathroom silicone would do the job?

Might try and look into myself.

If you can leave it for a few days and have the space then take out the front seats and lift the carpet up. You dont need to remove it, but if you can get a wet and dry vac or towels underneath, you can get rid of the pools of water there. I left stuff under the carpet to prop it up and left it in the garage with fans running so that air was flowing under and over it.

It's really obvious and bathroom silicone is fine :)

Yep i can leave it for as long as it needs, i always have an oversupply of cars :p

I'll go and do this now then i think! Thanks for the reply, does the door card just pop off do you remember? :)

Was a while ago now, but i think it was a case of removing the handle and window switch/winder then a few screws around the side/bottom of the card

It'll look something like this

The darker metal part is what you're running some sealant around - you'll probably see drops of water where it's come through

Ah cool, yep i got the rear passenger one sort of off (i cant work out how to get the winder off right now!) and it looks like that :)
