WATER+LAPTOP=:(

i am extremely clumsy and managed to knock over a pint of water two days in row. the second time i managed to spill a little on my girlfriends.. anyway it spent yesterday evening showing the power was working but then turning off a few seconds later. then i managed to get it on and i kept it in the sectino where you choose about safe mode or normal. i kept it at this screen for along time and it didn't switch off. now its managing to get to windows and i'm even typing this on it! so things seem ok. however, the last few times of turning it on after about 10 minutes its turned itself off. it may do it again but for now its working. i've checked device manager. things seem to be working. anway if it does turn off in about 10 minutes is there anyway to get things working without it turning itself off? would it require a serice by a repairman or can i fiddle around with system restore or anything in bios?

hopefully it'll stay on this time but you never know. sorry if my questions are just stupid and i'll deffinately need to get it repaired if the problem persists

you probably should have it let dry out before turning it on

i shall now turn it off... and leave it a bit longer... hopefully too much damaged hasn't been done

we let it dry a bit... maybe not enough

Let it dry as in leave it a long while in a airing cupboard.

I had to leave a phone 6 months for it to dry it, my ex's mum put it through a spin in the washing machine. :rolleyes:

i didn't get a whole washing macines worth of water. just a little bit of a pint glass over part of it. if i leave it on and it keeps working without turning off do i assume its nicely working again. i've got it in a warm place so might give it a test after a few hours

water and electric don`t mix, ie you get shorts, so do as the OP said leave it off in anice dry warm place then start it up again. It may already be damaged by the fact of you switching it on !

left it for a while. things seem to be fine now. had it on for a few hours with nothing bad happening

Pull the keyboard up and dry any small wet patches that might still be there.

Yeah the battery was nackered. Had to replace it.
