Given that we've been forced on to a water meter, I'm having a think about our reclamation options.
We've got a couple of water butts running off the garage, and I'll consider a few more running off the main house. However I got to thinking about covering our garage roof. It would need reinforcing but thats easily done, although of course water tanks weigh a lot.
Any thoughts on this? Obviously the guttering on the garage runs off into water butts and thats easy. It's more difficult capturing the rain water on the top of the roof unless I have an open tank, which isn't feasible of course (obviously want to keep dirt/animals out) although I could mesh it I suppose?
Would I need planning permission to put a wacking great tank on our garage? Given that it would make the structure over a certain height?
There are some seriously expensive RWH systems available, I guess I'm talking about rigging up a cheap diy version of that
