If you're just buying the core then they will work passively. Obviously they'd be better with fans, but they do work pretty well passively. You might need more rad area than you otherwise would want if running passively.

to mount one of these o na side panel of say the shinobi xl, as it's got 3cm of clearance behind the tray do you think it would be best to attach some anchor nuts to the inside of the case and screw it into them?

would mean easy fixing and unfixing but might localise the weight a bit.

how thick is the side panel of a shinobi, as if it's too thin maybe a large nut plate on the inside to screw into?

now i wonder if work has some m3 helicoils
