How hard do you think it would be to source the stuff needed for 478 watercooling?

I'm not asking for links, but does anyone know if you can source this stuff new?

Or would I be looking at second hand since the platform is so old?

ah right, block with a million holes in it? I see.

Thanks, gives me a start at least. What is the most common diameter of hoses and fittings?

There are a lot of blocks like that which are multi platform. Tubing sizes, well there is basically 1/2" (12mm) inner diametre and 3/8" (10mm). Now there is an increasingly popular 7/16" (11mm) tubing which streches over the 1/2" barbs.

When dealing with components, they will always (well for the majority of the time at the very least) be listed as something like 3/8" or 1/2" so buy accordingly.

Just built a w'cooled htpc with a p4 and bought most of bits in MM on on auction site; saved quite a bit of money.

Could anyone recommend a radiator for a processor only watercooling system?

If you have the space the Thermochill PA160. Designed by the watercooling 'god' Cathar over in Oz to work as efficiently as a 120.2 rad but using a single 120mm fan at low RPM. I have one cooling an overclocked Opty and a 1800XT. It rocks.
:)

Be warned - HxWxD = 214x166x50mm

Would you lot stay clear of an out the box solution?

I've seen one very cheap, not the greatest no safty features or anything. But at least I can upgrade sections of the cooling system later? Or is this a no no?

I build a rad box that goesunderneth my comp but every one different. I just didnt have on messing with trying to tuck every thing in. It all depends if you have a big nuff case to get it in tho.

I take it you mean a ready made kit?

The only one people really recommend are the Swiftech ones i think. Never used one myself though so dont know. I wouldnt have thought you save much from getting all the components yourself. Custom making kits also let you tailor your cooling to your rig.

I wanted a simple watercooling solution and opted for Koolance. I have the Exos2 which uses 10mm and the Al which uses 6mm, both work very well.

New they can be expensive, but there was a etailer selling the Al for a very reasonable price.

I've seen that koolance stuff before and wasn't that impressed with what I read in reviews.

I think I might just try and cobble it together myself, and if I'm wise with the block choice no reason why the system could not last a couple of upgrades down the line... cheers guys might pop back for advice later. :)

the NeXxXoS XP would be a good choice, as you dont have to remove the motherboard to install it, you can get a few different mounting brackets that use the standard mounting for a HSF :)

oh and it performs excellently too ;)
