I have some new developments going on with my rig, hopefully to be finished by the end of the week.

I am moving to a slightly smaller case and placing an external 360 under my desk!!

Before I begin I apologise for the photography and the curtains.

Recently, I have been considering Watercooling my reference HIS 6970 and i5-760 due to the sheer noise and heat expelled from the case. This will be my first Watercooled system.

My specs;

i5-760
HIS 6970
GIGABYTE P55 UD4
Corsair XMS3 (8GB)
Corsair H50
Crucial M4 64GB (OS)
Crucial M4 128GB (Games Drive)
Samsung F3 1TB
Akasa Vipers (2x in Push-Pull)
Akasa Apache Black

Coolermaster CM690-II

This isn't the most tidy of set ups nor is it free of dust.

After waiting a little while for my delivery (delayed due to stock) I received:

OCuk V8 Watercooling Kit 240
Razor 6970 Full cover Copper Plexi Waterblock
XSPC Bay single 5.25" Resevoir
Phobya G-Changer 120 Ver. 1.2 Black
Mayhems Aurora - Nebula Blue Coolant 1L

Additional Stuff:
Alphacool 120mm x 100mm Velcro Pad
Akasa AK-TK-01 Cable Tidy Kit
Akasa AK-TK-02 Cable Tidy Kit
OcUK 1/2" G1/4 - FatBoy Style - Shiny Silver - Barb Fitting X6
EK-PSC Adapter Rotary 45° G1/4 Nickel X2
EK-PSC Adapter Rotary 90° G1/4 Nickel X2
Mayhems Fine Silver Kill Coil
OcUK Tube Cutter Aluminum 3-14mm
Boogie Bug AimB.Pad XL Gaming Mouse Surface
XSPC 7/16" ID [16/11mm] High Flex Hose - Clear (an additional 3 metres)

I really found using a scalpel very helpful for many things such as cutting the velcro and also the removal of the H50 thermal Pads from the rear of my motherboard. The scalpel was really good for picking up the thermal pads on the 6970 as well.

The next stage for the build was a complete removal of all the parts ready for install.

just a little bit of dust on the H50 :)

The obligatory shot...

Note there are a few differences in what you see and what is in the finished piece.

I then mounted the Supreme Plexi Waterblock :) took me ages.

I then installed the 240mm radiator and Gentle Typhoon 1450 RPM fans

Next came the most nerve-racking bit for me- the GPU waterblock, an XSPC Razor

This however succumbed to my talents and my fingerprints.

Sadly I stopped taking photos at this point (due to over excitement). However, the next steps were to install PSU and motherboard to the case, RAM and GPU. I then installed the Bay Resevoir.

I chose to use a bay res over the top for my EK DCP 4.0 because I couldn't seem to shake the leaking that kept occuring in the flushing of my radiators.

Otherwise, I installed the Phobya 120.1 radiator in the lower section and attached an Akasa Apache Black.

The biggest dilemma was how to connect it all. I had hoped to use the top res combo, but I couldn't trust it, because I couldn't seem to shake the leaking that kept occuring in the flushing of my radiators.
So I tried to find a way to fit the other reservoir I purchased from the MM. Which unfortunately didn't seem to fit. Therefore meaning I had to, belatedly, order a Bay Res. The next day I installed and an extra 2 meters of tubing also arrived meaning I could investigate the best layout. Finally I settled on this.

I have now pulled the tube up using a clip, so it no longer makes contact with the GPU. I used the velcro to stick my SSDs together and then stuck them to the underside of the 5.25" bays. I think the velcro is great piece of kit and recommend it to all. You can't see this as this is the old photo, before I moved the Sammy to the lower slot under the drives.

I choose to use standard Mayhems H20 over the fancy coolant, mostly because I don't fancy flushing and changing liquid any time soon. That and it will be a pain to drain.

Otherwise, I haven't managed to clock the CPU much (still at 3.2) but the system idles at 13degrees or so and load (Prime for an hour) the max I have seen is high 40s. The system is silent, minus a minor vibration which is annoying to me and will be silenced with some foam or sponge.

The next steps:

adding in additional Typhoons to the front and rear of the case to exhaust (Front) and intake (Rear). I am also replacing the Apache on the 120.1 as it is annoying me.
Braiding. Not sure which colour. I would like to match coolant to braid. Suggestions on colours welcome.

Once again I apologise for the poor photography and the curtains.

Hope you enjoy. Feedback welcomed.

I felt the case was very easy to work with. I was debating getting the RS 240 Kit instead of the V8 240 and using an additional slim 240 Radiator at the bottom. But, I heard too many bad things about the life span of the bay res pump combos.

Nice work on this build. I am currently saving for my next project and I am not sure If I will use my existing CM 690 or go for something a little bigger. I will also be a water cooled virgin but I am not planning on buying anything for a while so have some time to think about what I want.

I have a few options;
Keep the 240 and add the 360
Just have a 360,
or 360 + 120 rads.

Still not 100% on this just yet.
