I doubt it would be pointless - cooling is a serious problem in notebooks. If the temperature could be dropped significantly then i might actually buy one again some day...

I know of a guy that watercooled a laptop and it worked (got decent temps off it as well, made it a bit bulkier though)... I'll see if I can find his site for you

Not only is it possible, practical and highly usable, but there are large numbers of ruggedized water-cooled laptops in use by the military right now.

Water cooling has one massive advantage over straight air cooling. It can be sealed up and you can turn the entire case into the passive radiator. If you want a PC that is sealed against dust and water ingress that is very useful.

While I completely agree with WJA96, I think it would be very difficult to convert a conventional laptop to a water cooled one.

what about carrying 2 seperate things? you have a laptop, remove the bottom cover to reveal water blocks etc, then just sit the laptop on a nother laptop sized resovior etc which connects the 2. The 2nd part has the pump, and other stuff needed. Maybe a few silent fans to help the cooling

lol that is so awesome! not completely practical, as it loses its portability buty then again, i never walked around the house with my laptop.

its is possible and easy to do, i water cooled my old p4 laptop with a coolermater viva aquagate. i mounted the rad on the lid and just cut the tubing to length. it barely added any bulk and worked extremely well untill the pump decided to blow up on me.

Weight would be the main problem in my opinion, a phased cooled laptop although more expensive would be lighter & better cooled.

However at the current rate of develop there no need to go down this route, once processor development slows enough to make it worth while then we may see it happen.

I love the little comic strip at the start of the blog. I hope he took the Lapxbox back to the store... should have tried to get a refund 'Its broken'.
