Hi All,

I am in desperate need to change my pump in this rig, it is by far the loudest component in here and it seems to be getting worse. Temps are increasing and I think the flow rate might well be the reason for this.

Take a look at some pics and you will see what I am dealing with.

So my question is really, what can I do to replace that pump? Would I fit a D5 with res in that space or am I going for another DCC pump?

EDIT - Of course I should have said that place the pump is currently sitting is approx 9cm square.

Any suggestions on what I can do would be really appreciated as I am at the stage where this thing could well be getting binned.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi

You dont need that front radiator, I used to run a 240+120 in my prodigy with an i7 3770k and 7970 overclocked to the hilt. Temps were fine

I would Remove the front rad, then use a D5 in that space

Also With a d5 in the front you can have a 230mm bitfenix fan as well for added cooling :D

EDIT:
Example of what my rig looked like at one stage

Without additional details it's hard to advise a specific solution. Noisewise ddc's can vibrate a bit. Yours (im assuming its not screwed down round the other side), although on foam pads, is stacked against the caseing, as is the res from the looks of it which is coupled to the pump. Foam there will help if that the source.
They also make some noise themselves as a moving part regardless which can't be helped, some are better than others. I have often read that D5's lowest setting can be quieter but have never had one so can't confirm that.

As to the increasing temps, warmer weather and prolonged load will see higher stabilsed temps, that's unavoidable. Dust buildup on the radiator fins will also see temps creep. That front rad also looks to be dumping heat from your cpu to to then feed your 240 which will reduce its efficieny. Is that passive 120 rad getting any airflow ith the current fan setup/balance? Half of it also looks to be outside any likely airflow paths too.

Edit: Diagoro's setup looks like a good solution to your pump prob if the D5's can run quieter.

Well the d5 is great when put on number 3.
Number 5 it can vibrate like a bugger thats why in the pic I posted its on around 2cm of foam.
That made it dead silent ;)
