After trying to decide between the 7900gt and 1800xt, I solved my dilemma by getting neither and going for the sapphire 1900xt instead for ~£50 more! :D

Now, that fan looks extremely large and noisy to say the least, and seeing as I've got a watercooling setup I'd like to add it to the loop.

However, I've never done anything like this before so need to ask a quick question - will the 1900xt need ram sink things, or is it fine just removing the stock cooler and sticking the waterblock straight on and leaving everything else as-is?

Thanks for any who help :)

edit: watercooling setup is the swift apex h2o or something like that, can't remember exactly now, and i think the vga block is the mcw55 if that's important

Nope, it won't need RAMsinks and it is as simple of taking of the cooler and bolting on the waterblock (usual precautions apply etc).

I use an MCW55 on my X1900XT & it does a great job :D
You need to use the nvidia mounting bracket that comes with the vga block for the X1900XT though ;)

I put ramsinks on mine :( I don't know why.. I normally don't.. they were just blue and nice and cheap so I did it for kicks and now I feel like I've been used by Zalman.

Ah how odd! Thanks loads for that tho as I don't think I would've even tried the nVidia brackets! Is it pretty easy to bolt on as it's not the ATI bracket? Glad it does the job well too :) What speed settings have you got the pump on/fan voltage out of curiosity?

Only problem now is...where did I store the mcw55?! I built most my pc back in Jan and didn't mean to wait this long for the graphics...now there's the mcw60 out and I've no idea where I put the mcw55 I bought!

What situations would I need to put ramsinks on?
