Plan is to buy a 3820 and have it at 4.5GHZ or so, initially I was looking at a H100 but realised that a D14 would probably do just as good a job but I've always wanted to have a water-cooled pc and I figured now would be the right time to do it!:D

At first I looked at OCUK's v6 Kit which I assume would be adequate to cool the cpu, but it would be a shame not to make the most of my 650D's ability to take a 240mm rad in the top.

What do you guys think of the following, can you suggest any changes/and what barbs and hose would you suggest I use? Going with pastel because it has a longer life? And I hope to keep the system running long as possible without draining it:

Hardware Labs Black ICE SR-1 240 Radiator
OcUK Tech Lab - D5 Vario Pump & Alphacool Clear HF D5 Top Value Combo
EK Multioption Reservoir X2 150 Basic
EK Supreme HF CPU Waterblock - Full Nickel
Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1850 RPM - 3 Pin x2
Mayhems Pastel - Light Red Coolant 1L

Thanks for any help:)

I would suggest you stay away from barbs and go for compresion fitting instead. Not only will they look better (your case has a window) but they are also safer and more secure

Theres no pump in your list.. I run this and its amazing although quite big

Also, get yourself some de-ionised water for flushing

Thank you, not sure why I missed out the pump from my list, just added it now. Was looking at the D5/HF top combo.

I am assuming I would need the following amount of fittings:

2X for the rad, 2x for the pump, 2x for the Res, 2x for the water block?

beat me to it, basically exactly what I was thinking. Should be a pretty decent setup shouldn't it?

This might seem like a daft question but do you get all the relevant screws etc to mount the rad or would I need to buy them separately?

Also, whats any ones opinion on having a 240 rad up to and a 120 rad at the rear of a 650d? could be inside or out wouldn't really matter. I know people put a 200 up front but I quite like the idea of a 120 out the rear.

Would this have a bad side affect on case temps though? I only plan to be running one GPU and probably air cooled for the time being.

Buy the screws they come with something but it was useles.

120 rad at the back would interfere with the IO and top radiator it will be possible but a pita

I really like what you've done stueng. Trying to figure out whether I will stick with a 240, or try a 240 + front 200 like you or give the rear 120 a shot. Im thinking you could put a 120 on the outside of the case quite easily and mount it to a fan on the inside.

The 650d has the water-cooling hose grommets so would be really easy to route from top to rear rad? Hmmm...cant seem to find any one thats done it online and I've searched loads! Strikes me as weird as I would have thought someone would have tried it considering how relatively cheap an additional 120 rad is.

I realise I am talking to myself here and I am sure someone will come along later and say why didn't you buy x instead of y...but I just ordered the following:

OcUK Tech Lab - D5 Vario Pump & Alphacool Clear HF D5 Top Value Combo
Hardware Labs Black ICE SR-1 240 Radiator
EK Supreme HF CPU Waterblock - Full Nickel
Hardware Labs Black ICE Radiator SR1 120
EK Multioption Reservoir X2 250 Advanced
Mayhems Pastel - Light Red Coolant 1L (x2) (You never know..might spill some..)
Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1850 RPM (x3)
Masterkleer Hose Pack PVC 15,9/11mm (7/16ID) Clear 3.3m
EK-PSC Adapter Rotary 90° G1/4 Nickel (x2)
EK PSC Compression Fitting 7/16 [16/11mm] - G1/4 - Nickel (x10)
OcUK Value PSU Bridging Connector (24 Pin)

Now, I realise the 120 mm rad is maybe a bit of a gamble, but I reckon it will mount just fine on the rear of the case. If I don't like it or whatever expect to see a cheap never used rad on the members market any time soon!

looking forward to it turning up...so far theres nothing to cool as I haven't made my mind up what to put inside it yet. Might wait for ivy might get a 3820. Not sure, either way I can have a play with this lot when it turns up :)

Nice one, thank you very much I will take a trip there and buy some. Seems daft they only include the screws to attach the fans with rads? Nevermind!!
