Hi All,

I've currently got a small loop set up on 9590FX out of equipment i was given a few years back from a feind (never used), this was just to get a feel for cooling etc, I'm actually suprised at how will it performs however temps are still far too high for me under load to keep this loop on it and am currently looking to put together a proper loop for this, I'm currently also using an old TT Armor+ for this but am having trouble measuring up rad sizes etc and am unsure if things will actually fit.

Originally i wasnt looking to cool my GFX card however it seems i have a Duff ASUS 280X which artifacts if GPU/VRM temps hit 55+ so it seems i will now also need to put that in the loop too, I guess the questions i need answering are:

Should i be looking at replacing all components due to age?(this is still first time use) Pump is rated 500L/hr peak but im unsure if there is a way to increase/lower this as cpu fan speed always seems to read near 2606 rpm
What measurements do i use for rad size, what sort of clearance do i need for Inlet/Outlet?
Should i be looking at 1 rad or 2 rads, sizes?
Which Brand of components are usually of decent quality?
Should i be looking at introducing a quick disconnect or some sort of T-line to drain?

Any help would be appreciated

Hi!

Thanks for the response, knew i'd forget something!

Setup is extremely basic at the moment..
320mm Res/Pump combo pump is rated up to 500L per hour
TT 120mm RAD & Fan with manual fanspeed controller
TT Barbed Copper Universal waterblock, looks like a pretty basic one doesnt show direction of flow.
Couple of plastic quick disconnects
8 Clamps (if i change block i'd probarbly go for compression fittings)
Small amount of tubing left 3/8" apparently
Trusty Paperclip

Hope this helps!

Aye, not sure on Rad sizes & dimensions etc, and how many rads to get?

Ive gont through some pages and there seems to be abit more negativity around XSPC items rather than EKWB

EK-D5 Vario X-RES 140
EK-Supremacy Block
EK-Coolstream RAD XTC 280
Primochill Tube (Not sure how much is needed, 1m per)
EK-CSQ Fitting 10/16mm G1/4 fittings x10 *10

Was also thinking if watercooling the graphics card would probarbly 280X EK waterblock... doesnt seem to be availible at ocuk or pick up a 290X&WB

I'm unsure how much heat the rads can take away, would a single rad of that size or 240 be sufficient? or would i also need to add in a small 140 rad too?

Thanks again :)

I think people generally say 240mm for GPU+CPU + 240mm for extra graphics cards... Im currently running 240 and 360mm rads for 2x 290x and a 4970k

People generally say 120mm rad for each component plus another, so for CPU + GPU 360mm of rad.

So with the CPU putting out upto 220 TDP which is slightly less than my 280X i'd probarbly be looking for something like 2 * 240 radiators or 1* 240 and 1* 360 if cooling both?

I can likely fit a 360 or 420 in the bottom, only issue being 2 fan spaces (Currently) Also have 360 mm of space in top of case from extreme case edge to PSU contact so i can probarbly get a 240 rad there though may have to mount PSU upside down with the fan pointing out the top of the case?

Basket currently looks like this: though im not sure how the rad will fit up top or if i'll need some angled fittings, case seems rather new so cant find too much info right now i know i cant go any lower than the motherboard with the RAD because the 8pin and 4 pin are right at the edge does this look somewhat correct though?

Also had to put a koolance 240 on doesnt seem to be any EK's up atm and would it be worth my time getting some quick disconnects or a way to bleed the system in or is it relatively easy to change the coolant?
