Im planning on using ghost compression fittings but need a few 45 Degree angles, have been looking at a few but the biggest thread i have found available to connect the compression to is 5mm, is there any that will allow me to use the compression fitting or shall i just buy a black nickel 45?

the main reason im using the ghost compression fittings is to keep the cost down but being able to use the 1/2 3/4 tubing as i like the look of the chunkyness and i think it will work well with the small loop i have planned!!

I'm not quite following you mate, 5mm thread?

If ghost compression fittings don't come in 45 degree versions, then personally I'd get some different 45 degree compressions in the same tubing size instead of using adapters. The fewer points that can leak the better.

I think the unbranded 11/8mm compression fittings I'm using were about a quid each when new. If the ghost fittings are the polycarbonate things I'd be reluctant to use them, as I'd expect the threads to shear / structure to crack when overtightened. The last time I voiced this concern on another forum I got a couple of PMs warning me off them, as they did indeed break. That may have been a faulty batch of course. Hopefully you'll have better luck :s

sorry Jon i just read my post back and it didn't make much sense!! the thread on the ghost fitting is over 5mm and the maximum thread in the 45 degree angle it would be screwing into i can find is 5mm so the oring would not be compressed!!

I think i might go with a metal 45 degree adapter as i have found none for a couple of quid!

Also im i little worried about these fittings i have read about bad batches etc, but as im planning to test for 24 hrs i see no more risk than using barbs tbh.

I tested one to destruction by doing it up as tight as i could and could not get it to shear, i could then take it off of the block but the fixing was impossible to get apart so it looks like it might be one off loop :)

Ah, I'm with you now. It's probably possible to cut the threads shorter, one of the advantages of using plastic.

I'm glad you tried to break one before putting it in your computer, that's exactly what I'd have done :)
