Guys,

I have currently got a socket 1366 board and going to upgrade to a socket 2011 and was wondering the following?

Is it possible to use my current EK Supreme CPU Block on this 2011 socket (using a kit or something) or do I need to purchase another one.

Also my current watercooling setup has been running for over a year now and am using the old feser one liquid, is there now a better coolant to use? And also whats the best tubing to get nowadays in terms of strength and flexibility.

And lastly I currently have a xspc resevour and pump and a triple rad in the roof of my case as was wondering if its a tidier option to go for the sealed units corsair Hxx etc or to use what I already have.

I recently noticed a little leak that I may have had over time which ended up on my top gfx card on my xfire setup, and I was thinking of getting a new setup like 7970's etc and a little worried about further leaks, hence why the sealed units sound tempting.

I know heat wise you cant beat a custom loop but I was looking at getting a i7 3930K and if I can get 4.5 out of it i be happy so dont know if I would need anything special to cool that?

Advice please, thankyou in advance

Hmm, not sure, maybe try posting in CS

Mayhems Pastel Range are one of best

And also whats the best tubing to get nowadays in terms of strength and flexibility.

Tygon generally regarded as THE best I think, but I'm using primochill which are also very good, as are Masterkleer, I believe XSPC is a bit too flexible (from what I've read)

Seriously? Use what you have, a thousand times better than Hxx etc

The sealed units really dont come close to custom, you'd be as well reverting back to air

Is that stuff conductive as I believe if you spill some of feser one it dont do too much damage?

I'm going to say pretty much what thrifles has said already, here goes :p

yes, it's fine

mayhems fluid, masterkleer or tygon tubing :)

The self enclosed units are pure gimmicky ********!

compressions reduce leak chances to near 0, but it's really who's installing it that matters :)

My 3930 @ stock, not doing anything demanding needs a slim 240 on it's own! it's a seriously hot mofo!

Advice please, thankyou in advance

Thanks 95thrifles for your advice, anyone else with some advice ?

Is Artic Silver still the thermal paste to go for ?

MX4 is the way to go

I have used the old wormdrive clips and i was referring to the primochill spring clips are they secure as they look more neater than the large metail urgly looking wormdrive clips

Is your EK supreme the old oval model?
If so it appears Ek have dropped support for it, couldnt find any 2011 mounting kits.

In regards to tubing I would go with primochill, Tygon tubing gets cloudy quickly.

Hmmm........... This is really doing my head in :( do you think i should just keep what i have and replace the crossfire setup with a hd7970 and put some fresh tubing in and only cool the cpu and leave the gfx on air. As my i7 920 @4ghz should be good for gaming and I have 6gb ddr3 so again I should be good for a while yet? Iw as just thinking of moving to the new 2011 i7 for pci 3, usb 3 etc but all the cost and effort is it really worth it when my rig at present should still run latest games etc and with a hd7970 run bf3 on ultra surely??

omg lol if i have 1/2" barbs whats the size of the tubbing i need, cant remember what i had last time as the tubbing is listed as OD which I assume is outter diameter?

Quick Q, whats so good about the the Tygon tubing? Is it made out of something special or does it just have a better bend ratio compared to others?

7/16

Clear and bendy.

Tygon is actually prone to clouding with some additives. Masterkleer seems to be better in this respect and I would just recommend Masterkleer as a matter of course.
