at home, you?
iv just fitted my 1st cooling kit, i bought the EK supreme LT plexi from overclockers, and i have fitted the adapters into it for my pipes, but it still developes a small leak, very small, but i was just wondering whats the best thing i can use around the thread to seal it? but for cheap, im more lookin to go to a local diy shop to get sumthin but if i have to order something then so be it lol;)

PTFE Tape is what you want, you should be able to get it from any DIY store. wrap that around the threads it should stop any leaks.

Yep that tape is fine, just don't over tighten things, as it may cause tiny cracks in the plexi, finger tight is all you need, and the tape should help if there is any tiny tiny gaps.

Shouldn't need ptfe if the barb has an O ring. Can you take a photo of the block in position, and describe exactly where the leak is?

your o-rings mights be knackered - i've lost a mobo from (foolishly) not checking the o-rings before, as if they've snapped it'll leak

Should'nt realy need to use any ptfe tape tbh but if it does the job then all well and gd. Definatly dont over tighten the barbs i made this mistake being to concerned about leaks when i 1st tried water cooling and caused a leak by cracking my cpu block  , lucky it did'nt do any damage when it dripped onto the gfx card

the barbs were tight getting them in, luckily a mate has sum of that tape, i just wasnt sure wether it would work or not lol, the barbs were originally off another block, a thermaltake jobby, not sure which one, the block is all cracked so its no use to me, all i did was turn it the other way cos the threads were different, all seems perfect bar this ine tiny tiny leak, nothing a bit of tissue wont sort for a few days eh lol, will post sum pics soon.

Assuming you haven't already cracked the plexi top by using apparently dodgy barbs, invest in a couple of brand new correctly threaded barbs to the tune of about a quid each, rather than trying to use ptfe tape. PTFE tape is actually not reccomended for plastic threads AFAIK.

Barbs shouldn't really offer any resistance as you screw them in, up until the point the o ring starts to compress. If they appeared tight as you were screwing them in then either the barbs are the wrong thread, or you've cross threaded whilst screwing them in, or the block itself had bad threads, or the barb has bottomed on something.

Oddly I have the opposite issue, D-tek barbs will bite the thread on the block I wish to use, but all others spin freely within it. I hadn't realised the tolerances on "G1/4" can be that poor.

Agree entirely with Bubo's suggestion though.

i went for the ptfe tape and it sealed it perfect, now i just need to do the other one now, moving the pipes has disturbed it lol. i did get some new barbs and now its working a lot better but these didnt come with any o-rings, hence sticking with the ptfe.

bit of a mess the wiring for now, but it will all be getting the attention soon when i get a new powerpack and start customising it with great detail xD
