Hi guys,

I currently have an Antec 300 case, and I'm struggling to justify to buy a Corsair 800D case to water cool. I love the look of the corsair case but my sensible side says check out cooling the 300.

Has anyone fitted a 360 rad in a 300? Are there any good kits that go straight in? I've googled a lot but cant find a good answer.

Thanks

fitting a 360 inside will be tight or no go if you have a dvd drive. You can mount a 360 out side(behind case)
240 may be ok but it will take 7 drive bays.
(I have used a 240 in my 1200 before and it took 7 bays)

Do you think its probably not worth the effort trying to fit it in? go with the Corsair 800D? or a better option perhaps? love the look of the 800D but it does sound huge :)

I will do the CPU 955BE (intend to overclock to around 4gz) and the vid card (like you have done) possibly go xfire later and also maybe go BD when the next one comes out.

First venture into this arena really, no rush, am using an Antec H20 620 for now, seems ok.

Yeah what I was going to say is AMD cpus tend to go with a bit high temps when water cooling but it is all in good range.
Also ek going to release a bridge to connect 2 core only blocks soon! so it is gona be easy to set up xfire using core only blocks! :)

How about this for an idea. There is definately room for a 240 in the front of the case, how about sandwhiching two 240's together with fans in the middle, and 2 on the outer side, make 4 fans, in a pull air into case setup. Not seen anyone do that before? that would give me 480 which I guess would be plenty even with the xfire setup?

First, 240 + 240 does equal to 480 in terms of surface area but NOT equal to thermal power of a single 480 RAD!

If you sandwich Fans - 1st RAD - Fans - 2ndRAD, 2nd RAD will get warm air from the 1st RAD.
So not much of a difference.
But, I have seen an Antec 1200 mod let me see if I can find it.

Cant seem to find it now.
But how about this.

2 RADs side by side in the drive bays with cut outs for fans?

You will have to do some mods though, and the connections will be tight! Not sure about this now :(

You will fit a 240 in the front if you remove the hdd rack, you then have the option of a 120 on the rear fan mount as well. this is how mine is currently setup using an XSPC RS120 and a XSPC 240.

Keeps my Phenom II 955Be 4ghz (1.45v) @ low to high 40s dependant on ambient using Xilence Red wings @ ~1000rpm

No problem :)
240 in front and 120/140RAD in the rear is the least problematic.
240 in front and another 240 on top would be suitable if you are going xfire and BD.

But you will have to check the dimensions of the RADs against the case.
Also I dont think you will have much clearance to fit fans in side the case if you fit the top 240 rad. I have seen Mods with fans fixed out side and the RAD inside the case.

What if you use your H2O 620 for the CPU and just use 240 rad in front for the GPU(s) alone?
