Watercooling (Coolermaster 832)

Hi All

I have been fighting the urge to watercool my rig for some time, and have finally given in.
With a lot of help and advice from forum members and particularly Yewen @ OcUK i have bought some kit!!

I aim to strip my case and try and fit the rad at the top where the raptor window is located. Im not sure on the position of the Pump/Res yet.

Specs are: Coolermaster 832, Asus Striker Extreme, E6850, Sythe Ninja Cooler, 4GB Crucial Ballistic, 2 x MSi 8800GT's, Accelero S1 GPU coolers on both, 750W Toughpower PSU.

Im hoping i dont blow this lot up, surfice to say i will be taking it very steady.

Ill post some 'before' piccys to show my current (slightly messy) setup, and as is traditional, post updates of my progress. Ive got all of Sunday free, but am hoping to get this started tonight.

I for one will be crossing my fingers this all goes well, i dont mind admitting im a little worried about setting this up :o

I have stripped my case, and have installed the rad, tried a couple of places, but went with my first choice, up top.

Even though this case is large, there is still only just enough room. I had to make a couple of brackets to suspend the rad from the side panels in the 5.25" bays.

I have moved the HDD bay up as far as i dare, again just enough room.

That leave's enough room to get the rad/pump half way under my DVD+RW. I was hoping to get the pump all the way under, alas it was not to be :(

Top view. (im going to remove the 4 brackets that i have bent upwards)

ps. what screws do you use to attach the fans to the rad?? (im havind a pig of a job finding any to fit :(

Small update..

I have re-arranged layout of pump/res, its now going in the bottom of the 5.25" bays. Ive ditched the drive cage, going to mount 2 x HDD on individual mounts and only going with 1 DVD-RW. This gives me enough room to keep the res/pump out the way.

Ive measured the tubing, cut and filled the loop :D

This has been running all night, so a succesfull test me thinks, (going to leave runnng rest of today) going to start putting back together later today/tomorrow.

Not sure about anymore posts though, there seems to be a distinct lack of interest :o, this is my first ever watercooled build, i know its nothing ground breaking but i expected someone to be interested....anyho, im enjoying it, let me know if anyone else is ;)

Looking good so far, similar to you Ive been stopping myself going WC for some time....

Need a bigger case first :P

You posted during good weather, much more fun to be out in the garden than on the forums. :p

Looking good, space out the anti kink coils more once everything is installed and it will look killer.

If you got a UV cathode and put it in I do think it would shine nicely through the mesh on the side of the case.

Thats the challange though, get it in the case you've got :)

Im just working out how to route the cables, ive broke out a 25mm hole saw and the dremmel :)

Yewen, noted on the coils, if ya wanna send me a cathode be my guest ;)

If I personally had one I would send it over, I go for subtle in any builds I do personally so I generally go as extreme as changing all of my LEDs to blue and thats about it in the mod department.

I just noticed you have a BEIGE cd-rw in your current setup, I take it that you are retiring this drive now....? :D

Remove the 3 in 1 module, remove the fan. You should see three plates that can be removed, so when the fan is placed back into the holes the airflow is no longer obstructed by that metal mesh.

Still a few cables, but with 2 x gfx and 3 x sata cables its impossible to hide everything, but i think you will agree a LOT tidyer than before...

Really really pleased with this, its a small adventure but very rewarding, and its not nearly as scary to setting up water coolong as you think!

My idle temps are (as i sit here) 32oC which is 10oC less than my Sythe Ninja cooler from before. Not that that was my major goal, but its nice all the same.
