Hi,

I have been looking into water cooling, i was wondering if anybody can have a look at the following list i have created and give me some advice and tips eg am i missing anything, is there anything better for the same money etc. This will be my first wc build. My case is a p182, motherboard p6t deluxe. I intend on keeping the radiator at the back exterior of the case. I am looking at only cooling the cpu atm.

Swiftech Apogee GTZ SE CPU Water Block (Socket LGA 1366)

Swiftech Laing D5 Vario MCP655 12V DC Pump

XSPC RX360 120mm Radiator - Black

Swiftech MCRES-Micro Rev2 Watercooling Resevoir

Swiftech MCB-120 Radbox

Bitspower Premium G1/4" High Flow 1/2" Fitting - Black Sparkle Finish (not sure how many of these i will need, currently looking at 6?)

Tygon 1/2" Tubing Clear (3m enough in case i mess up?)

Fluid XP+ Extreme Deep Purple UV 944ml

3 fans but not decided on which ones to buy (any advice would be great).

Thanks in advance,

Phil.

aye it looks ok from here apart from using fluids, they can make a right mess of the blocks and piping,to be honest can you not find uv tubing at all and use a uv light set it would be much better im my eyes.

fans

quite as possiable is all good,so there's a few out there depends on your budget, gentle typoons i use in my last water build wjere spot on i also use ethermax fans with leds but are pricey, hope helps.

That's all good stuff so long as you can afford it. The block is good but the new XT is better apparently. The SE is just a pretty GTZ and the XT would be the better buy.

The pump is very good and reliable but quite bulky which is why the DDC is more popular.

The RX is a good rad.

MCRES-Micro is universally admired.

Radbox makes mounting externally a doddle. I have two and think they're well worthwhile.

The Bitspower barbs are great. I reckon you'll need six as well.

Tygon is brilliant but I prefer to use 7/16" Masterkleer as it's slightly thinner so easier to route and fits over 1/2" barbs so tightly you have to cut the stuff off.

Don't like coloured coolant. better to get coloured tubing and then just use water. coloured fluid sometimes separates out leaving crap in everything and breaking pumps.

Great, thanks for the quick replies! i have changed my tubing and lost the coloured coolant, knocked nearly 30 pound of final price :)

Do you know where i can find the XT block i can find reviews for it but cant find it for sale.
Also, is this the DCC pump you recommend? Laing DDC 1+ Ultra 18W 12V DC Pump

Thanks again,

Phil.

XT is brand new so I'm setting the bar high by suggesting it. I believe that it can be bought from Internationally shipping US suppliers.

Yes the Laing DDC 1+ Ultra is the bestest small pump available but it does benefit from a XSPC reservoir top (which would remove the need for the MCRES-Micro)

Thje thing about CPU blocks is that the latest one is ALWAYS better. So the Swiftech XT that MikeTimbers suggested is better than the Heatkiller you linked to above. I like the EK Supreme for performance, but I wouldn't try to argue it's better than the Heatkiller or Swiftech XT, because it's not. I love the look of the AquaComputer Cuplex XTdi, but it's only a middling performer these days.:(

The Swiftech is the best block at the moment, but give it a month and the new EK will be out and probably better again...

Seems harsh to condemn Swiftech for this when it only has a problem on one manufacturer's boards. More likely that Gigabyte have crossed into space that Intel have specified as "cooler space". Wouldn't be the first time that manufacturers have failed to follow the reference specifications.
