Watercooling guru's advice needed.

Hi guys. I have quietened my rig now and the one thing that's left is my Aquaextreme 50z pump. The whine from it is doing my head in. It's insulated and padded but it still whines away. Time to change it i reckon. Are these DDC's with a third party top quieter than my pump? Also are they as powerful?

My setup consists of:-

Aquaextreme MP-05 Pro Limited Edition CPU block.
Aquaextreme MP-1 GPU block.
XSPC Delta NB Block.
XSPC 250mm passive res.
Alphacool NexXxos Extreme lll rad.
7/16" Masterkleer tubing.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

The 18w is pretty quiet. Not much in it between the DDC 18w and the DD D5. Certainly no whineing like with the old D4.

Personally I would go for the D5 for reliability, although the DDC with aftermarket top does look nicer.

It' does'nt matter what it looks like as it's going in a radbox anyway. You reckon a D5 is the one to go for then? Did'nt you have a 50z at one point?

You might be limiting your mounting options with the D5. I would base your choice on where the tubing is going to be routed. As weescot says the D5 has a better reliability record but its much more bulkier and resrictive in terms of adaptability.

i have 2 d5's in my case ( mountain mods ) the psu is noisier

850w Galaxy lol

Is'nt it a similar size to my Aquaextreme 50z?

I wouldn't say the D5 is bulky by any means. I ran a D5 and a DDC with OClabs top next to each other. They have a similar footprint, but the D5 is taller.

I never had the 50z, I had the original D4 when they came out. I have an 18w DDC just now and used the D5 Vario recently too.

18w DDC with aftermarket top that you wont look at or DD D5. Not much in it really.

As i can get the 18w DDC with a top for less than the D5 i guess that's the on i will go for. Cheers guys.
