Hi Guys,

I am looking to watercool my system and im wondering if you think this setup would be any good and would it keep things cool.

Kit to be WC'd is:

i7 2600k overclocked to 4.5ghz
2x SLI GTX580's will be overclocked to around 920mhz

Ideally i'd like to have a single loop if possible more than a dual loop due to space. (if this is not possible to get good temps then it will have to be dual)

I was looking at the following kit, basically will this be enough to get good performance with the above CPU and GPU's being overclocked.

EK Supreme HF CPU Waterblock - Nickel Plexi
EK GTX 580 Full Cover Waterblock - Nickel Plexi x2
Hardware Labs Black ICE SR-1 360 Radiator
Hardware Labs Black ICE SR-1 240 Radiator
Laing D5 Vario Pump -T12 12V DC Pump
XSPC Single Bay Reservoir
Masterkleer Tubing PVC 1/2" ID
Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850rpm fans

I've not put down all the little bits like barbs etc.. but thats the kit i was looking at.

Do you think that will cool a i7 2600k overclocked 4.5ghz and 2x GTX 580's overclocked to 920hz on a single loop?

Thank in advance guys.
Dave

That all looks fine and dandy. Excellent selection of parts throughout. Never been a fan of single bay reservoirs myself however; believe me filling and bleeding is so much easier with a cylindrical reservoir directly above the pump. ;)

Are you sure dual rads are necessary? If you can cool all that on a single 360 that would be your best bet. Speaking from personal experience extra rads don't necessarily lead to lower temps on a single loop.

Whether it will all fit will be dependent on what case you have. Which case is it?

If going nickel ensure you get the newer (EN) blocks but I'm sure you knew that.

Out of interest, what components would you recommend here?

The bits I highlighted in bold. Sorry, should have been more implicit :). I was asking what reservoir and pump would you recommend, or were thinking of in your post.

Sorry missed that. :o

I've always been a fan of the Alphacool Cape Corp Coolplex Pro 25 LT (google it).

Its similar to the EK Multioption 250 Res but better. It has a long stencil inside the res which makes bleeding easy and the quality control on the G1/4" threads is far better than EK reservoirs in my experience (I've had too many of them leak). Also its cheaper.

Pair the Alphacool res with the pre-assembled D5 Vario Pump & EK D5 X-Top V2 pump/top combo and you're sorted.

The diameter of 7/16" tubing is slightly less than 1/2" therefore giving a very tight fit over 1/2" barbs.

I use 7/16" compressions and 7/16" tubing. But if using barbs, I would go for the 1/2" & 7/16" combo for security as he suggested. That way you don't need to worry about unsightly jubilee clips.

I'd try a single rad first. If others can cool SLI 480 on a single thick 360 rad you should be fine.

What case do you have?
