Hey,

Am planning on doing first watercooling loop ... was looking at the kits as they seem cheaper .. I have a budget of £160 .. was going to get this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-116-EK&groupid=962&catid=1532&subcat=

But also saw the xspc rasa 750 rs240 somewhere and was wondering ... Which ones better or another alternative ..

I have a xspc pump and res combo .. Should i just add to that (remember only £160.) if this option... spec me.

In my opinion you'd be better off with the XSPC Rasa 750 RX240 kit (better radiator).
Although if the pump/res combo you have is the same as the one in the kit then you could buy the bits separate and save a small amount.
You should be able to pick up the RX240 rad for ~£70, then a cpu block for around £50 (XSPC Rasa, EK Sumpreme HF, HeatKiller 3.0, etc.). That would then give you ~£40-50 to spend on better fans than you get in the kit (maybe a couple of Gentle Typhoons) 6 fittings of your choice and then some tubing (just make sure the tubing and fittings match).
That should set you back about the same amount as the Rasa RX240 kit, but lets you customize things a bit more (tube colour, fans, fitting type). Of course with the kit you would get another pump/res combo as well, which you could sell or keep as a spare. Kit is probably better value but then you're stuck with the supplied XSPC/EK bits like them or not (unless you buy more stuff to replace them, but this may then mean they don't work out as such good value).

Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

I mean the EK stuff looks better ... IMO .. also i'm trying not to use my current pump as it was second hand ... don't know how much life is left in it.

Is the XSPC kit really better ? ..
I've heard mixed opinions

I'd say the pump is the weakest area of the XSPC kit. I believe the RX rads are some of the best out there, I've heard mixed things about the EK rads. If you have room I'd pick an XSPC RX rad of an EK rad any day. The XSPC RS rads might be closer to the EK rads.
The CPU block I think are pretty close, the EK might just edge it (I suspect this is where a lot of the cost of the EK kit goes).
I think the pumps in both kits are adequate, but I've rarely seen people buying either when they do custom loops or advise people to get them. People generally got for a D5 pump or MCP350/MCP355 with a top (or mounted to a reservoir). The EK-DCP 4.0 might just edge it.
Tubing is probably pretty even.
EK probably edge it on fittings from what I've heard.

Not an awfully convincing argument in favour of XSPC I admit, but for some reason I prefer them I think.

As mentioned the RX rads are better and i would say the same about the EK block being slightly better.

Fair enough .. 1) I think EK make much more effort on packaging ... its just improtant :P ... and space is a issue... Will a RX Rad fit? i have a NZXT M59 case :/ ... quite small

well i'm going with the xspc probs .... i want a new case :D ... thinking cm690 ... can stretch that extra bit

To be honest looking at the case it looks like you might have difficulty mounting any radiator inside the top of the case. It doesn't look like there's much clearance. This may rule out the RX rad.
Basically you will need about 60mm for the XSPC RX rad, plus 25mm for the fans.
I think the EK rad is 47mm (and again 25mm for the fans).
The XSPC RS rad is 35mm thick (and 25mm for the fans).
You might be the best judge of how much room you have. you may have to get creative!

If space is an issue, then the XSPC dual bay pump/res may be easier than trying to fit a reservoir and pump in separately.
