watercooling kits

I am currently using a h100 which I have no problem with regards temps other than the grinding noise. Im bored and intend to build a custom loop as my next project so after looking at the ocuk site and the pre-configured kits do you guys advise to buy one of those or spec all the parts separately? which would be the best option?

it depends what your eventual aims are and your preference for cost/performance vs. ease of use

cheap kits are good as an intro to building your own watercooling loop but if you want to add things later like GPU then you'll end up adding or replacing key components like pumps

the OCUK kits are a good basis for building on to a full loop by just adding rads and blocks but they aren't the cheapest way to get the same level of performance

or there's the build it yourself route which means doing boat loads of research in to what the best price/performance parts are that will work within the confines of your project... e.g. do you have a case already and what rads will it fit or could you consider going with an external rad... the bigger the rad you use the less important expensive fans are etc.

Yes I have a full size case which houses the 240mm radiator for the h100 with 4x120mm fans in the roof. There is space in the drive bays for a res. I have the inwin dragon rider full tower white. there is space at the side of the psu also but that is taken up with psu cables as its not modular. Its more for visuals and boredom really. I love building the system up. I don't have temp issues with the h100. I just fancy a loop with ice white liquid. And I wont do the gpu`s as yet but wouldn't mind with a bit more experience

go for a full custom loop its not that hard.

Af ew guides on here are all you really need.

Pump
Res
radiator
CPU block
Barbs or compression fittings (8 if just the parts above)
Tubing
Coolant

That should be it for a basic loop.

so you don't advise buy a pre configured kit? not looked at the parts separately as yet. will check the site now. Are any better than the others, in terms of reliability or branding?

a pre-configured kit will be the easiest way to do it - if you are willing to get your hands a littlebit more dirty in research then take a look at some of the other options on parts and see if you can work up a system that either looks better, performs better or costs you less money than a kit

in terms of reliability, not really

pump and radiator will be your 2 biggest outlays

D5 pumps are very popular but also quite expensive... EK DCP 4.0 is similar in performance, possibly noisier on full but you can mount it on a rubber pad and lower the voltage to lower noise (D5 vario has speed control built in so you just twist it down to 3 for less noise)

radiator wise, get whatever fits - there are loads of reviews on rads to check relative performance

Brilliant thanks for the help and info. No I don't mind getting my hands dirty or wet as it maybe in fact that will probably satisfy the build something new urge. I will look at the individual components and try spec a loop myself. The only definite is I want the ocuk ice white liquid.
