Watercooling Loop

Hey there everyone been playing around with my watercooling loop and o/c on my e8600 system, shortening the tubes etc. Currently working on 4.7ghz, but basically when I try get higher o/c or setting anything over 1.42v on the vcore thats when the temps sky rocket. For Example:

Full Load (Orthos) @ vcore 1.312 I'm getting 49 degrees
Full Load (Orthos) @ vcore 1.42 I get around 60 degrees

My current loop is Res -> Pump -> Rad -> Block -> Res

The hardware is dtek fuzion v2 / thermochill 120.3. Now my question is here I read on another forum someone running a different loop and was getting much better temps even with over 1.5vcore.

His loop was Res -> Pump -> Block -> Rad -> Res.

Has anyone tried this on there wolfdale setups? Any recommendations are welcomed before I put it down to my chip :)


Edit: Oh yeah my pump is the d5 vario also.

The order of the loop makes no real difference, just as long as you have res > pump.

Could be down to rad size, or spec, general air flow in the case.

But also, why does he run it on 1.5vcore?!?! does he want to burn his chip out within a month?! crazy.

But tbh, i would say if all was the same, it would just be the chip
 
Well the 1.5vcore I saw was just a guy pushing his chip as far as he could I was just amazed at how low his temps were compared to what happens to mine once you go over 1.4v. I'm just playing around too trying to get as much out of my chip and nice temps, so was looking into better ways too cool.

I have plenty of air flow using a u2-ufo and 3 120mm san ace fans on the rad and 1 at the back.

Thanks for the advice on loop though I didn't think it would make much difference and thought I'd ask before I went and tried it. Am thinking I need to get some new tubing and redo it anyway as I never done a proper clean of rad when I first set it up.
 
for my E8600 @ 4.4Ghz with 1.44v.

Res > DDC 18w > Thermochill PA120.3 > DTEK Fusion V2 > NB > Res.

Idle between 32-42 depending on time of day and load at around 60. My fans are running silent, hardly pushing any air through the rad.
 
Thanks for the info bradley, must just be my chip then, it is a good chip 1.312vcore for me is 4.5ghz :) but going anyplace over 1.4v its just goes crazy temps. Just looked at an old screenshot of when I used 1.4v @ 4.5ghz and I was getting 66 degrees full load. Still tempted to get new tubing, bleed system and clean it properly.

On this topic actually has anyone ever tried the nozzle kits you get for the dtek fuzion v2?
 
There for Quad core CPU's so i wouldnt bother with em. From what iv learnt from Gurusan the lower the vid of the CPU will clock well normally with good volts but run very hot so i think thats your problem.
 
I think your thinking about this you get a kit by the name of D-Tek FuZion Accelerator Nozzle Kit and I've saw reviews on XS site improves pressure and waterflow, was just looking for other peoples opinions on that too :)

My e8600 has a vid of 1.2125 dunno if this is low or high.

Edit: On further reading I'm just being silly that kit is for the original block not v2 :) *doh*

Have you checked contact between cpu and block?

I would say your rad and block is good enough. The pump is good. Have you any kinks that could be restricting the flow?

Are you completely sure its fully bleed? Silly question I know but always worth covering all bases!

To be honest, the only thing I could think it would be is contact. Maybe you need to send the cpu to Lap Land ;)
 
cpu is already lapped and the block was near perfect and the way it's designed if I never took it too pieces I think I would make a worse job of lapping it. I think its just my processor as I have seen other people with same sort of problem on the wolfdales once you go over a certain voltage the temperature just sky rockets. I should just be happy with my 4.5ghz stable clock and keep working on a stable 4.7 and stop being so greedy :)

When I run it at stock or even around 4ghz the temperatures don't go above 40 / 47 on the cores which is actually what it idles at (stuck sensors.)

As for fully bled, I still have some air bubbles in my res that I just can't seem to get rid of but I think thats due to the design of the XSPC single bay res.
 
on my humble black ice two with a Aprogree GTX block my 4.4ghz 1.45v overclocki get about 63c load if i swich off the fans and just game on somthing like Crysis or fallout , F@H on both cores 50% on both fans (Coolermaster 120mm red Led ones) i get around 55c loads , must be the cold dundee air making me and my loop cold
