Hello all,

Noob question here. Am doing my first build along with a full custom loop and most the parts arriving tomorrow from OCUK. Its a simple loop with the CPU only.

My current highly details master plan is as follows :D

So essentially Pump to CPU to Rad to Res and back to pump I think this should work fine. However I am conscious I need to add a drain port somewhere, possibly after the pump?

Another question is I will be using Chrome metal piping rather then the normal stuff so may not be able to use normal fittings? I have brought some fittings so far which explicitly state they are for chrome / Acrylic tubing.

So Far I have:
Black-ice Radiator GT Xtreme 360
Primochill 120mm AGB (Reseviour)
Alphacool 13/10 mm Black Hard fitting
EK Super EVO Acetal+Nickle
EK XTOP D5 PWM Acetal
13/10 Black Chrome Tubing

So I think I have most of the right parts, just thinking what I would need for the drain port.

Cheers in advance

Rad

For hard-line fittings you only have to worry about the OD (Outside Diameter)

If the OD is the same as the OD of the fittings, you'll be fine. Chrome or copper with plated outer finish are good for full metal tubing.

As for a drain port, T fitting or even a Q fitting, male to male, valve and cap and a fitting for it, as to connect a tube to it when draining.

Cheers Cerelia, Will see how it all fits together as is and see how I can best fit those suggestions in with the space I have. All fun and games it seems! :)

SAmSuNG, your definitely right. In this instance however one of the two issues (along with drainports) I had was I was not sure if I could attach normal fittings such as the T fitting to metal piping.

It seems in most online stores there seem to be specific Acrylic tubing and fittings section which I took to mean you could only use fittings within those areas, and I have never seen a T type fitting in those areas. It seems fortunately, that may not be the case and makes things easier.

Cheers. Well fortunately I can send back the fittings I brought from elsewhere which are a deep matt black and wont really go with the chrome finish, assumed they were the only ones that would work with the metal tubing. Glad that's not the case.

Apologies for dragging up this thread. I have question which I cannot see the answer too anywhere. I have finished my first build and also first loop and carrying out the initial leak test and vow to not use metal again!

Anyhow, I stumbled across this silver coil stuff and wondering if its needed and if there would be any adverse affects with the coolant I am using. (cant see any info on the Mayhem's Wiki) As a newbie I picked up the Aurora coolant which I now gather is for show use, live and learn I guess.

From the sounds of it, the kill coil would remain static, and not go through fittings, I am thinking of possibly adding it near the pump? not sure if thats suitable. Highlighted in the picture in the red ring.

Apologies for all these newbie questions and thanks in advance.
