Watercooling noob

Think you only need a coil if you use pure water , distilled or deionised .

Never used one with my dyed stuff. Never had a problem. Some say it gunks up though.not to me!

Here's some ideas.

The blue ones are ready to go obviously and you don't need a kill coil or biocide.

The clear and the dyes is another option. I went for X1 clear with blue and purple dye (The purple makes the blue much darker imo)

I prefer to stick with mayhems simply because mick is active on these forums if I have any issues.

Good luck Kaapstad and any probs, plenty of guys here in the know who will only be too glad to help. I spent hours watching needless water cooling vids on youtube, just to follow the thread on here by Shayper. Great thread.

Thanks guys

Its going to be quite a long project as some of the bits I want are not on the market yet. I grabbed the kit in my post above before it was sold out again. The next thing on the list is the new corsair 900D hopefully that will be out soon.

Ah that kit is stunning, dual pumps, ax rad AND the very sexy chrome raystorm :o

First time watercooling, keep the fluid simple gets my vote, mayhems x1 or pastel premix.

for coloured fluids I would recommend the mayhems pastel range. Alternatively you could go for coloured tubing and just use plain distilled water with biocide.

I had a blonde moment when doing my CPU under water Kap by going "in" to "in". It was a simple fix though as it was only the CPU. All I had to do was change the res connectors to sort out that issue.

I found when I done my full custom loop, I planned my tubing, which realy helped in putting it all together. I had it drawn on paper how I wanted it to go which also helped. Make sure you have plenty of 45's and 90's and this will make it easier still.

Just make sure you plan your build and stick with "in" to "out" :)

At the moment I am waiting to see what the new Corsair 900D is like when they release it. Once its on the market I can figure out what radiators it has room for and go from there. Where this is going to be my first w/c build all help anyone can give is very welcome.

from what I understand, 480+480 is a bare minimum for the 900D, one in the top one in the bottom, depending on PSU probably room for another 240 in the bottom.

Not sure what it offers for front mounting but it looks a worthy successor to the 800D.

All those rads will be good. To start with I will only be cooling the CPU and Mobo but when the next generation of cards become available with waterblocks I will be using the extra rads to full capacity.

A very good way to start, so this way you know and understand what you are doing...It worked for me anyways :)

Some more help please, for the time being I have given up waiting for corsair to release the 900D and have decided to use the 800D

This is what I have got so far

Will this all go in a Corsair 800D and what extra fittings do I need.

The other thing is where is a good place to have a drain point/tap

I am planning on having the tripple rad at the top to cool the CPU and the single rad replacing the 140mm fan at the top/back to cool the mobo.

Thanks in advance
