I have noticed that graphics cards almost always hang over the chipset fan, does this stop you watercooling the chipset, or are there boards out there which have the chipset in a more accessible location?

Thanks

Daven

Some boards are well-designed, there are special chipset blocks which have been made so as to work with badly designed boards and then there are the people who simple use Zalman passive heatsinks.

Watercooling the chipset is pointless.

Chipset watercooling generally adds a lot of restriction to the loop and doesnt help much with o/c. Does get rid of noise thou from chipset fan but i just use the zalman with an 80mm fan blowing onto it at 5v and that doesnt go above 30

my system was going to be designed without any fans on (except obviously phase change, radiator, and psu) cpu was to be phase cooled, gpu, chipset, harddrives were to be watercooled and psu would use its fan.

also could would 1 loop for the gpu and 1 for the rest work well?

thanks

Ah, I love these - Bling for the sake of it - my kind of build. If you really want to do this (and yes, I keep toying with the idea of going totally water with no moving parts...) Get some of these:

Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe:

And just because you want to watercool the NB (SB mosfet etc...)

Alphacool Heattrap RegCooler Asus SLI:

DangerDen AquaDrive 2 HDD Block (1/2")

Danger Den DD12V-D5 (1/2")

Whichever CPU/GPU you like (DD Maze 4-1 means you can use Pelts )

And don't forget:
silentMaxx Fanless watercooled 500W (I know it's a bit iffy, but hey...)

You know you want to!

Could even throw in couple of these:

And who needs fans on a Rad?

I have a similar setup (except I'm on water for the CPU too).

CPU -> GPU -> Nbridge -> HDDs -> Mosfets -> Rad -> Res/bleed tube -> Pumps

I would advise one loop if you are using two identical pumps - put them in series.

i was planning on using those koolance memory coolers! yes it is a very bling build, but i also want cooling parts that will last a number of builds. the only reason i was thinking about 2 loops is that people said the chipset block and also the mosfet block (why not!) will slow the flow, with 2 loops couldn't i have a faster flow over the gpu?

was also thinking about a unit similiar to the koolance evo. i.e. a radiator, resevoir and controller, temp sensor etc. all outside the unit, or are internal units better? i will get a huge case to house all this obviously.

thanks

Building in a rad box instead of trying to cram it all into your case is a Lot easier - especially if you're going for 2 loops, which means 2 pumps and a couple of rads. Plenty of ideas floating around on the forum - might be worth a search if you're after ideas, but it's easily done, either in something simple like MDF/acrylic (sp?) or my personal favourite, surplus military ammo box ;) (But be warned, On mine I still haven't found a way to cut fan holes - that tempered steel is indestructible  )

Agree with the radbox. That's the way i am going at the moment. Got a triple rad and that passive reservoir as well. Just waiting for the pump and blocks now so i can finish it all off.

is it possible to have two seperate 120 radiators off one pump? rather than one long dual 120? e.g resevoir > pump > CPU > GPU > 1st rad > tubing > 2nd rad> back to res?

i am liking the radbox idea, would make it of mdf probably and then paint it in metallic paint or put metal sheets on the side. and put a resevoir in a 5 1/2 in drive bay. i like this idea :) yeah i have been looking at a couple of guides but will search for more.

thanks
