Hey all

Im new to the forums, few people from work recommened this site to use :)

So im after a project over the next few months,

I wanna build my self a complete system and have it watercooled looking to use a UV green liquid along with Green fan lights and UV bulbs for nighttime something little fancy but completely neat and tidy. kinda a neat freak lol!.

Never done water cooling before so what sort of price we looking at and how complex is this ? i know this will vary depending on needs and whats needed to be used etc.

Im aiming more for my Desktop to be built for Photography and video editing graphics and web design, but also be a work horse for business as outside of work i run my own recruitment company. so need an all rounder thats quick :)

Any help or advice would be great :)

Thanks

I've just finished my first full watercooled build (CPU & x2 GPU) & while it wasn't incredibly difficult - it was far more effort that I had first imagined.

My main advice,

1. Use high quality fittings (don't cheap out)

2. Get a massive case & I mean massive - ideally with a bottom compartment you can put the water cooling stuff away from the rest of your computer. While I got a big case, I didn't quite appreciate just how much room is required for a nice setup.

3. Get a little more tube & coolant than you'd first think you would need.

4. Double check every single size to match sure they are all compatible.

5. Have a backup computer just in case anything goes wrong, there is a small chance you may lose everything. This can be significantly reduced by following up the professional guides online.

6. 24h (or at least 2 12 hour leak tests.

7. Read all the instructions on all the parts, I had a minor leak during my first cold test from the pump top (had the G fitting port in the wrong slot, misread the instructions slightly!)

Personally, I wouldn't custom water-cool a work PC (I'd likely go for AIO as it's comparatively safer) - the risk is mostly worth it for gaming & bench-marking where you can get performance bonuses (with bios unlocks/pushing OC higher).

Thanks for the reply mate :)

Getting parts and stuff i could buy through work.

but Its not a work desktop as such more for my own personal use for photography and stuff like that but want something fancy looking and a project to go with it. but also use it as a work pc if i have to. as i can also use my current desktop or work laptop for stuff aswell :) kinda gauging price. and whats involved to do for a project :)

Its not as complex as it seems at first ;)

What are the specs of the PC and what case do you have?

For just CPU watercooling you can put put together a nice quality build for around £200-£250,if their is a gpu aswelll its gonna be around £400

Graphics Card. then across the top of ram and which ever other bits are recommended ill get a photo if that helps :)
