Hi Guys,

I am currently putting together a watercooling setup for my rig.

I have narrowed a few things down to what I want: -

cpu cooler - D-Tek Fuzion

Rad - Thermochill PA120.3 'is this too big to fit inside my case'

Pump - 'no idea yet' but want something as quiet as possible
Also can someone tell me why some pumps have water tanks on top

Fans - I will research these when I have decided on everything else

Reservoir - would like a one that fits in a 5.25 bay ????

The general consensus seems to be 1/2" tubing

I am a total noob to watercooling so any help would be much appreciated
Budget of about £250.00

Good coice

Yup, may fit if you dont mind modding the case though.

DDC pro or ultra with alphacool top (allows the use of 1/2 barbs).

Also can someone tell me why some pumps have reservoir's on top

Saves on space but can create its own problems so is'nt normally recommended unless space is a big issue.

I recommend Yate Loon fans, quiet, cheap yet powerfull.

The general consensus seems to be 1/2" tubing

Correct 1/2 or 7/16th tuning is the most popular.

Easily enough to get you a very good setup.

w3bbo you are a star

When you say modding my case I assume you mean dremelling 3 fan holes in the top of the case

I will go and check out the rest of the stuff and get back to you

Top or bottom. Top is usually the norm though. Compare the dimensions of the PA to the eclipse. I.m pretty sure you will lose the use of a couple of 5 1/4 drives even if you can cram the rad internally. Might be better to consider a 120.2 or mounting the rad externally or better get a bigger case.

Silverstone TJ-07
Lian LI v2000b
Stacker

or at the extreme end a case like mine - the Mountain mods U2-UFO (see sig).

I don't think you'll easily get a 120.3 into an Eclipse. I've a 120.2 in the top of mine and it's very close to the PSU and I've lost the top two 5.25" bays. You could get a 120.3 in the bottom but you'll have to remove the five 3.5" bays, or do some serious hacking at them.

Yeh, I've got a 120.2 in the top of mine as well.. Space is a bit tight so its doubtful a 120.3 will fit! However the .2 is doing me just fine in there.. :)

You guys cooling a GPU at all. The only reason I ask is that to do so I was informed that I would need a PA120.3 (oh and a new case lol).

I went for this is in the end: -

1 x D-TEK FuZion CPU Block
- Barb Size: 1/2" £38.99
1 x XSPC Bay Reservoir (Black)
- Barb Size: 1/2" £21.49
1 x Thermochill PA120.2 "May amend"
- Barb Size: 1/2" £52.94
2 x Feser One - F1 - Cooling Fluid - UV BLUE 1ltr £15.94
1 x Alphacool Laing DDC 12V ULTRA Pump & Plexitop
- Barb Size: 1/2" £67.49
10 x XSPC 1/2" tubing £8.30
2 x YATE LOON 120mm - D12SL-12 UV Blue Frame with 4 Blue LEDS £9.98
1 x 12mm Hoseclips Pack of 10 £3.00
1 x 120.2 with Mounting Holes £11.99

If you are only cooling the cpu, the apogee gtx seems to be a better waterblock, the fuzion seems to perform better only when there are multiple items being cooled in the loop. a 120.2 should be fine, i have one mounted in the top of my v1000, and thats cooling the cpu, nb and gtx...

I'm cooling a 6400 and a HD2900 with mine.. The temps are still decent. Usually have the 6400 running at around 3.6GHz but have only overclocked the graphics for benchmarking purposes.

I have confirmed the following order but I am still undecided on a case: -

1 x D-TEK FuZion CPU Block
- Barb Size: 1/2"
1 x XSPC Bay Reservoir (Black)
- Barb Size: 1/2"
1 x Thermochill PA120.3
- Barb Size: 1/2"
2 x Feser One - F1 Cooling Fluid - UV BLUE 1ltr
1 x Alphacool Laing DDC 12V ULTRA Pump & Plexitop
- Barb Size: 1/2"
10' Masterkleer 7/16" ID tubing
3 x YATE LOON 120mm - D12SL-12 UV Blue Frame with 4 Blue LEDS
1 x 12mm Hoseclips Pack of 10
1 x 120.3 Rad Grill with Mounting Holes
