Watercooling, showing water moving in a loop

Only stuff i can think to put in to see water flow is a metalic powder eg: Glitter or alike

Is this what you meant ??

If so and anyone comes up with this idea i have applied for a patent :D

I don't unfortunately mate. I actually saw it on YouTube with some American person explaining about it in his rig.

It sounds like the fan lead for pumps attached to motherboard fan header to monitor RPM and sound an alarm if it fails.

As for seeing water move around, its sounds like cavitation; which is bad. Flowmeters add restriction, which is also bad.

Yes but very little. Lets say you havelow restriction blocks and a high performance pump and getting 2gallons/min performance. If a flowmeter restricts a little, you will hardly notice the difference.

Maybe no more than the difference between 1/2" and 7/16" tube?

No, the one you showed pics off is just a temperature display. It comes in a kit cause you need some way of measuring the water in the loop, hence the t peice with sensor built in.

The kit I listed is the temperature and flowmeter combined. You take your choices and buy which kit you want.

My apologies. I didn't realise there were different kits (just literally found it) although the link I provided has the flow meter too.

How does the alarm work? Is there an internal speaker to buzz you? Is it worth getting greebo? I'd love the temp display with the alarm but not keen on the flow meter or t-piece.

Well, I haven't tried one, just read up. But have to have a -peice even with the temp monitor although it's just a small metal t peice with a sensor built in and a lead off it.

issue with a waterfall would be the bubbles caused by the froth

Thanks for the replies all, i guess there is nothing out there atm, it is for good reason really i guess as solid bits will wear down the surface pretty quickly

I did have a idea of mixing a oil based lubricant (i used oil paint for sake of testing) with water but it just restricted flow through the water blocks (i assume as the temps rose)
 
You can just run the flow meter in parallel with a bypass pipe, it will still indicate flow on/off and water temp.
OCPC built something liken to that a few years back, but they not in production anymore, in a kind of manifold.

There are a few other options, oddly if you google OCPC flow meter u can get some intersting DIY hits
