Watercooling upgrade question

Hi,

My system currently has a "OcUK Tech Lab - W16 Watercooling Kit 480" (see https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk-tech-labs-w16-watercooling-kit-480-bu-040-tl.html) setup which I installed many moons ago on an i4770k CPU (only cooling the CPU, not cooling the GPU). I'm looking to upgrade my Mobo/CPU/Ram in the not too distant future (probably to a zen 3 AMD CPU) and was wondering if I needed to replace the waterblock or if I could just get a new bracket for the CPU. I found fitting the tubing to the waterblock to be fiddly and is not something I'd want to do again if I can avoid it.

Thanks in advance

This will ultimately depend on what CPU/scoket you end up getting in the futre - if the existing bracket is compatible (which it may be for a new Intel CPU) you can just swap it over no problem to a new motherboard.

If you need to change the mouting bracket I think you'll need to disconnect the tubing from the block to take the old bracket off and put the new one on.

To be honest, if you've had it a good few years, it might be a good idea to actually strip it down, clean everything out and actually replace the tubing with fresh given the oppurtunity.

I brought a bracket to mount my water block when I upgraded from an Intel 4670k to my current Ryzen 3600. It only cost a few £’s.

Why don’t you ask Overclockers directly as they sold you the kit and should be able to give you a simple yes or no.

Edit. You have an EK water block so I’d be surprised if you couldn’t just by a bracket for that.
